Created in 1979, our Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) – Action Against Hunger – is fighting against hunger in the world. Its mission is to save lives eradicating hunger through the prevention, detection, and treatment of malnutrition, in particular during and after emergency situations caused by conflicts and natural disasters.

In Sierra Leone since 1991, Action Against Hunger started operation in Moyamba in 2009, we are currently having programs on the following thematic areas; Health and Nutrition and Food Security and livelihood in four Chiefdoms (Kori, Bumpeh, Kamajei and Upper Banta Chiefdom) within Moyamba district.

 

Action Against hunger is recruiting it new Mental Health and Care Practise Head of Project to participate actively to the care practices implementation and understanding in the nutrition programs and to the psychological support given to the beneficiaries and their caretakers. Contribute to the development and promotion of mental health, psychosocial support and care practices at health facilities and community level in Moyamba.

 

Under the supervision of the Field Coordinator, the Mental Health and Care Practise Head of Project are to supervise the implementation of mental health and care practices activities at health facilities and community levels.

 

The Mental Health and Care Practise Head of Project ensure there is proper integration of the MCHP activities in the wider nutrition and health program.

 

The Mental Health and Care Practise Head of Project Participate in external and internal coordination activies, liaise with mental health, psychosocial support, gender and protection of international, local organisations from civil society and government.  

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree in psychology or social work.

  • Psychologist, mental health and psychosocial background

  • Good knowledge of the area and local customs.

  • Excellent communication and representative skills (written, oral, cross-cultural)

  • Ability to multitask and deal with stressful situations.

  • Ability to adapt within the working environment.

  • Ability to work in a team.

 

EXPERIENCE

  • At least 2-3 years of humanitarian experience

  • mental health and  psychosocial support work

  • Minimum of two to three years previous experience in related field.

 

WORK CONDITIONS

 

STARTING DATE: 15TH June 2019

DURATION OF CONTRACT: 11 months with a possibility of an extension base on performance

REMUNERATION AND BENEFITS: According to profile
