Endline and Final Evaluation of the Partnership for unlocking the potential of groundnut value chain Programme in Moyamba District, Sierra Leone. Responsible for: - Leading, coordinating and organising the team of experts to conduct the endline and final evaluation of the programme - Prepared the data collection tools: questionnaires, Guides for Key Informant Interviews (KIIs), Focused Group Discussions (FGDs), Site visits guides and rating for the EU’s Development Assistance Committee (DAC) criteria of relevance, effectiveness, efficiency, likelihood of impact, and sustainability. - Led the data collection and analysis in collaboration with the Data Scientist and other experts - Preparation and Presentation of the Draft Endline and Final Evaluation Reports in validation meeting - Preparation and submission of Draft and Final Reports
Task performed: - implement data collection, - conduct interviews, - conduct field survey, - visit agricultural training centres - define curricula, - train on agroecology, sustainable agriculture, agribusiness and processing of agricultural products in selected training institutions, - evaluate training activities.
The Study assessed youth groups in Sierra Leone with regard to their legality, membership, functionality and activities, funding and other related aspects pertaining to the promotion of responsible investments that empower youths. Tasks performed: - team Leader and Chief Investigator, - coordinated the whole exercise, - designed the study, train and deploy data collectors, - analyzed data, prepare draft report and present for validation, - prepare final report.
Preparation of Sierra Leone’s Proposal in response to the Global Agriculture and Food Security Programme (GAFSP). The Project titled Rice and Livestock Agro Industrial Transformation Project (RLAITP) with the Project development Objective (PDO) to sustainably strengthen resilience in national food systems towards post-COVID-19 recovery in ways that decrease food insecurity, increase agricultural productivity, promote value-addition, marketing and boosting private sector involvement along the rice, vegetable and livestock value chains was fully developed in consultation with the Government of Sierra Leone through its relevant ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs), donors, civil society, the private sector and producers organizations.
Assessment of the strengths, weaknesses and capacity building needs of Cooperatives in the Cocoa, Cassava and Oil Palm Sectors in Sierra Leone. Tasks performed: - assessed the structural, organizational, operational and managerial efficiency of 30 Cooperatives in the cocoa, cassava and oil palm value chains across Sierra Leone, - prepared capacity building plan prepared, - evaluated needs and skills to improve, - prepared suggestions for capacity building plan.
Technical Support to the Land Sector Reform Process in Sierra Leone. Tasks performed: - organised the conduct of technical studies on the following areas, - assessment potential impacts of the upcoming land bills on the agriculture sector, - review the urban/peri urban land valuation/taxation systems and experiences, - review the status of Sierra Leone's digital land information system, - development the Implementation plan for the two upcoming land bills: The National Land Commission Bill and the Customary Land Bill, - development and present findings and recommendations to the Government and its partners, - contributed to preparation of a World Bank project to support government in Land Administration, Digitalization, etc.
The Assessment researched on the impact of Covid 19 on the livelihoods of the population, especially to farmers in the country. Tasks performed: - review the related literature around Covid 19, Land Tenure, Youth Sector and Agricultural Investments, - develop and conduct a stakeholders mapping, - design the study and the survey tools (questionnaires, Checklists for Focused Group Discussions and Key Informant interviews), - analyse data, - prepare and present draft report for validation by stakeholders, - prepare and submit final report
Boosting Agriculture and Food Security (BAFS) Programme. Tasks performed: - carry out research to develop a farmer-demand E-Extension Framework for the agriculture sector in Sierra Leone. - identify possible service providers for internet services, - co-design the framework of the research, - develop research tools, - conduct research activities.
Peace Building Fund (PBF) supported Project “Creating Peaceful Societies through women’s improved access to management of natural resources, land tenure rights and economic empowerment in Sierra Leone”. Analysis of of 3 Value Chains in four (4) Districts in Sierra Leone. Tasks performed: - coordinated the activities of the study, - conceptualise the exercise, - conduct a literature review on value chains in Sierra Leone, - identify the key value chains in the project districts,
Master Planning Consultancy (MPC) for the implementation of the Sierra Leone Community Driven Development Project, Phase 2 (SLCDD 2) funded by the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) and implemented by the National Commission for Social Action (NaCSA) in Sierra Leone. Tasks performed: - identify and rationalize the Project Indicators and clearly discerned the Project Theory of Change (TOC), - design a robust M&E system that was integrated into the IMIS/GIS for the project, - elaborate the Project Operational Log Frame, - conduct the Baseline Survey and the Community Driven Development (CDD) process, - contribute the development of Business plans for the Micro Enterprise Groups (MEGs), Self-affinity Groups (SAGs) and Rural Growth Poles Hubs, - prioritize and analyse the various value chains supported by the project.
Coordination of the Export Sector Competitiveness Programme (ESCP), supported by the Netherlands Trust Fund IV Programme (NTF IV), a partnership programme between the Netherlands Foreign Ministry’s Centre for the Promotion of Imports from developing countries (CBI) and the International Trade Centre (ITC) signed in September 2017. Tasks performed: ˗ conduct an assessment of the SMEs in the cocoa sector on business activities, cocoa sourcing, services to cocoa farmers, gender issues including corporate social responsibilities (CSR), ˗ produce recommendations on a capacity building plan to enhance Sierra Leone cocoa quality and improved exports, ˗ work with the Sierra Leone Investment and Export Promotion Agency (SLIEPA), the Produce Marketing Board (PBM) and the Sierra Leone Produce Marketing Company (SLPMC) for the development of for an appropriate cocoa export model for Sierra Leone based on the cost/benefit analysis carried out for the different models studied, ˗ contribute to the promotion of the Public Private Dialogue Platform for the Cocoa, Coffee and Cashew sectors (the Sierra Leone Cocoa Coffee Cashew Platform - SLCCCP), ˗ design a quality enhancement capacity building for the private sector in cocoa in Sierra Leone, ˗ Link exporters to European markets for their produce, ˗ work with other consultants to carry out cocoa value chain analysis (VCA) of the cocoa sector in Sierra Leone and Liberia, ˗ participate in the diagnosis ITC Mission for the selection of a value chain in Sierra Leone for the implementation of ITC’s ‘She Trades’ project that assisted 10,000 women in the 4 Mano river Union Countries of Sierra Leone, Guinea, Liberia and ivory Coast to improve their livelihoods through trade.
Voluntary Guidelines for the Responsible Governance of Land, Fisheries and Forests within the context of Food Security (VGGT) Programme in the Food `and Agricultural Organisation (FAO) of the United Nations in Sierra Leone. The VGGT Programme supported the Government of Sierra Leone in the formulation of the new National Land Policy (NLP), which among others promotes Responsible Investment in agriculture, piloting the recording of women’s land rights in Bombali, Bo and Kenema Districts. Tasks performed: - consultant coordinator, - support the Government of Sierra Leone in the formulation of the new National Land Policy (NLP), - coordinate the activities of the project, - prepare annual work plans, - organise and convene multi stakeholder platform (MSP), thematic working groups (TWG) and Steering Committee (SC), - prepare ToRs, hire and supervise consultants, - coordinate e-learning programmes on VGGT for key stakeholders.
Conduct of an Evaluation of the Sierra Leone Community Development Driven (SLCDD 1); Baseline Survey and Designing of an M&E System for the Linking Smallholder Framers to Market (LFM) Project. Tasks performed: - team leader for the Baseline Survey, - coordinated interviewees and field survey, - develop survey tools, - analyse data, - design the M&E system for the project.
2nd National Cocoa/Coffee Summit held on 27-29 September, 2016. Tasks performed: - conceptualise the Summit, - prepare and distribute Invitation letters to over 100 participants from various relevant sectors for the development of the cocoa sector in Sierra Leone, - identify, prepare and coordinate the Moderators, Presenters and presentations, - organise cocoa and coffee exhibition show around the Summit, - organise Breakaway Group Work and presentations, - moderate the Plenary Sessions, - coordinate the preparation of the Communiqué from the Summit/Conference, - lead the presentation to the Government of Sierra Leone.
