Literacy and Numeracy Boost Officer


Qualifications and experience: Higher Teachers Certificate (HTC)/ Teachers Certificate (TC) Primary or Secondary. A Bachelor’s degree in education will be an added advantage and 



  • At least 2 years’ programme experience in educational programming with an international NGO 

  • At least 2-4 years teaching experience preferably in primary school 

  • Proficiency in project planning, implementation and monitoring

  • Demonstrated knowledge in community mobilization leading to ownership of project/sustainability

  • Ability to build trust and working relationship with strategic partners’ staff, school staff and local school communities.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work as a team member within a collaborative framework.

  • The ability to work independently and use own initiative; strong problem solving and analytical skills 

  • Ability to plan and organise work, cope with pressure and prioritise competing demands on time.

  • Excellent written skills including strong ability to write clear and well-structured reports. 

  • Computer literate with the ability to use Microsoft word, Excel 

  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills and the ability to think and plan strategically

  • Experience in using participatory methodologies in programme implementation, preferably involving children.  Good understanding of children and/or family issues, as well as issues of discrimination, diversity, and inclusion.

  • An understanding of and commitment to, the values of Save the Children, especially a child-rights approach to programming



  • Ability to ride a motorbike or show willing to learn

  • Fluent in English and Krio and Mende


Contract length: 12 Months with possibility for extension based on performance
