We are World Hope International Sierra Leone, and have been working in Sierra Leone since 1997. We are a Christian relief and development non-governmental organization (NGO) working with vulnerable and exploited communities to alleviate poverty, suffering and injustice through our programs on Anti-Trafficking in Persons, community health, education, agriculture, WASH and enterprise.

 

Currently, we have a job vacancy for the following position: Human Resources & Admin Manager – that will be stationed in Makeni, working with World Hope International Sierra Leone team to achieve the following below:

 

JOB SUMMARY

The principal responsibility of this position is to provide comprehensive HR and admin support to all departments in order to establish robust HR & administrative systems and ensure good practices for effective and efficient achievement of WHI goals and objectives.

 

MAJOR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees in collaboration with project supervisors; maintaining a safe and secured work environment; developing personal growth opportunities. 

  •  Develop and maintain a human resources system that meets top management information needs. 

  • Identify legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resource functions and ensure policies, procedures and reporting are in compliance. 

  • Coordinate management training in interviewing, hiring, termination, promotions, performance review, safety, and sexual harassment.  

  • Administer performance review program to ensure effectiveness, compliance, and equity within the organization.

  • Administer salary administration program to ensure compliance and equity within the organization. 

  • Prepare employee separation notices and related documentation, and conduct exit interview. 

  • Develop HR strategy, policy and procedure for the country programme. 

  •  Develop annual needs for development/training through the formal performance review process. 

  • Follow-up and remind head of programs on performance appraisals for their staff. Ensure appraisals are done during and towards the end of the probation period and work with the Country Director to take appropriate actions (either confirmation letter, extension or termination letter). 

  • Ensure high level of confidentiality regarding personnel data and assist the Country Director in ensuring all employee information is kept up to date and held in a secured place.

  • Ensure HR information is maintained and up to date records are collated on a monthly basis

  • Collate monthly staff timesheets and file appropriately.

  • Follow up with Nassit to ensure that staff contributions and records are up to date.

  • Also assist and prepare monthly payroll and forward to finance for review.

  • Facilitate residence and work permits for expatriates.

  •  Keep the organogram for the country office updated.

  •  Assist in organizing meetings, workshops and seminars.

  •  Perform other duties assigned by the Country Director

 

  1. Education & Job-related experience and knowledge

  • A minimum of first Degree in a related discipline.

  • Master’s degree will be an added advantage or a specialized HR certificate.

  • Experience working with an INGO is a plus.

  • Good Knowledge of Sierra Leone’s Labour laws is required.   

  • Must have a willingness to closely follow child and vulnerable adult protection policy and procedures.

  • Experience working on projects funded by DFID,EU,UNICEF or other international donors or companies, is desired.

  • Good writen and spoken English.
