EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

The Christian Health Association of Sierra Leone (CHASL) invites applications from suitably qualified Sierra Leonean candidates for the position of Executive Director. This challenging role requires a highly qualified and experienced individual with expertise in Nursing, Midwifery, Public Health, or Health Services Administration, alongside skills in accounting, finance, human resources management, and project management.

Role Overview:

The Executive Director will report to the Chairperson of the Executive Board and will be responsible for providing strategic leadership for CHASL’s management, financial oversight, governance, compliance, and reporting.

About CHASL:

CHASL is an ecumenical association of church-owned health facilities and the second largest provider of health services in Sierra Leone, focusing on remote and hard-to-reach areas. CHASL promotes high-quality, affordable, and accessible Christian health care, facilitates networking among health facilities, and supports efforts to meet common health and resource needs.

Key Performance Areas:

  • Execute CHASL’s Strategic Plan.
  • Attain the Association’s sustainability through effective financial management and sound leadership.
  • Implement effective governance, legal, risk, and compliance strategies.
  • Optimize human capital and other resources to achieve CHASL’s mandate.
  • Ensure due care and diligence in serving members and stakeholders.
  • Cultivate continuous stakeholder involvement and engagement.
  • Provide effective administration and support to the Executive Board.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate government, partner, and Health Facilities to ensure alignment and collaboration 
  • Lead advocacy and networking efforts to mobilize resources and support for health facilities.
  • Advocate to the government and other stakeholders for the provision of personnel and additional support to health facilities
  • Monitor the progress of the GoSL-CHASL partnership and identify areas for improvement.
  • Provide strategic leadership to CHASL’s Secretariat by managing staff performance and ensuring efficient service delivery.
  • Implement effective resource mobilization strategies to secure necessary funding and resources for health facilities.
  • Develop and implement staff training programs of it facilities.
  • Develop and Oversee small-scale projects for Health Facility improvements.
  • Guide financial sustainability and resource use at Health Facilities.

 

  • Manage drug procurement, distribution, and Medical Supply Unit operations.
  • Consolidate and lead reporting to the Board, Development Partners, and relevant stakeholders.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing, Public Health, Midwifery, or Health Services Administration.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a senior management position.
  • Experience working with not-for-profit organizations.
  • Experience working with high government authorities.
  • Good understanding of health-related issues and policies in Sierra Leone.
  • Understanding of the nature of associations and/or cooperatives.
  • Knowledge of program management and project management principles.
