Who we’re looking for  

We’re looking for a Mentor with excellent digital and media content skills, team player,  leadership and interpersonal relationship. BBC Media Action is setting up media hubs in three  universities under the EU Funded DIS NA WI VOICE project. These hubs will be resource  centers that provide capacity (training and support) to youth leaders who can drive citizen  journalism, civic participation and youth voice. 

This Mentor role will support training delivery both within the university’s hubs and for digital  stewards and digital content creation. As such, the role will absolutely require effective working  knowledge of safeguarding policies and procedures in relation to protection of children and  vulnerable adults. For the successful candidate, mandatory training will be provided on BBC  Media Action’s safeguarding policy and staff code of conduct. A police background check will  form part of the recruitment process. BBC Media Action operates a zero-tolerance policy  concerning all forms of abuse and exploitation of vulnerable people. 

JOB PURPOSE 

The Mentor will support training delivery both within the hubs and for digital stewards and  digital content creators. 

  • Will conduct training on digital media and the use of different learning tools. 
  • Support the development of training content for all hubs in line with donor requirement  covering digital media production. 
  • Facilitate the delivery of training and learning space for hub participants to share  resources, discuss trends and work on digital media contents. 
  • Provide on-site mentoring to hub facilitators. 
  • To work closely with hub participants on all aspects of content and program production  to ensure maximum stability.
  • To understand BBC Media Action policies and procedures and ensure that all learning activities are conducted in compliance with these policies and procedures. 
  • The ability to present sound and well-reasoned arguments to convince others. Can  draw from a range of strategies to persuade people in a way that results in agreement  or behavior change. 
  • Communicating in the best way to get one’s message understood clearly by adopting  a range of styles, tools and techniques appropriate to the audience and the nature of  the information.
