AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) is an international non- profit NGO based in Los Angeles, California, USA. AHF operates across 50 countries worldwide and has 2.7M+ patients in care, the majority of these being in Africa. AHF Africa comprises 14 country programs. AHF collaborates with the Governments of these countries through Ministries /Departments of Health (MoH) to provide cutting edge medicine and free HIV and AIDS services, including antiretroviral therapy in resource constrained settings.
AHF is registered in Sierra Leone as AHF-Sierra Leone and offers services on HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment, and care services in collaboration with the Government of Sierra Leone and other stakeholders. The organisation now seeks to hire a highly competent, dynamic, and experienced person to fill the position below on a two-year contract of employment.
NURSE – 3 Positions- (Magburaka, Kindoya and Blama clinics)
These positions are based at Magburaka Clinic, Kindoya and Blama Clinics The position holder shall report to the Community Health Officers in these locations. The Nurse will assist in the daily running of the clinic to ensure patients get quality and timely care in line with AHF and Sierra Leone government standards. May act as a team leader within the scope of the practice guidelines as dictated by the scope of practice of nurses. The holder of this position will perform among others the following duties.
- In collaboration with community health officer support all activities at the clinic
- Triage clients at clinic.
- Collaboration with the facility medical officer, ensure the provision of quality, evidencebased ART, EMTCT (triple elimination), prevention and TB services.
- Initiate and expand PITC in the supported health facilities
- Provide skilled nursing procedures (i.e. dressing changes).
- Organize follow up of clients who have defaulted treatment and care.
- Performs phlebotomy and/or initiates intravenous infusions as ordered (provided is certified).
- Support the formation and management patient support groups at the clinic.
- May supervise care given by other cadres including, Medical Assistants, ART Aides and Phlebotomists.
- Provides patient and family education.
- Reports significant changes in the patient’s physical status to the RN and/or to the medical provider.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum of a diploma in nursing obtained from a reputable training institution.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience working with HIV clients in public health institutions, community services or medical setting.
- Must be registered with the Nursing Council of Sierra Leone.

- Needs to be sensitive to confidentiality and issues surrounding HIV/AIDS.
- Flexible, proactive, and able to organize work independently as well as work in a team.
