We bring together health, academic and international development expertise from King’s College London, the UK’s National Health Service (NHS) and our international partners to:

King’s Global Health Partnerships – Sierra Leone is a Sierra Leonean NGO that supports the coordination and delivery of KGHP’s work in the country. This partnership has been working to help strengthen the health system and improve the quality of care in Sierra Leone since 2012. We work with our partners to strengthen accredited training of healthcare workers, clinical services, health policy, and research capacity. Key partners include the Ministry of Health (MoH), Connaught Hospital, and the College of Medicine & Allied Health Sciences (COMAHS). The work covers multiple health specialties including emergency medicine, infectious diseases, surgery, palliative care, stroke, mental health, and oral health, as well as focus areas on postgraduate training for doctors and nurses and research capacity building.
We are seeking a Partnership Coordinator to lead the team in Sierra Leone and oversee delivery of KGHP-SL’s strategy and programmes. The role will work closely with the Partnership Lead (based in the UK) and wider KGHP senior team to shape this strategy and maintain high-level relationships across the health sector. They will help integrate the clinical, training, policy, and research components of our work and ensure it is of consistently high quality and leading to sustainably strengthened systems, institutions, and individuals. They will also ensure we are living our values, including listening, transparency, and mutual accountability with partners and engagement with wider communities.
The Partnerships Coordinator will supervise the delivery of programmes and oversee the recruitment and management of national staff and international volunteers. The role will also have oversight of grants and operations of KGHP-SL and will also be expected to help secure funding for KGHP-SL.

Job Title: KGHP-SL Partnership Coordinator
Location: Sierra Leone, Freetown with travel to districts and internationally
Line management: Reports to the KGHP-SL Partnership Lead (UK based)
Supervision responsibilities: Responsible for the management of all clinical and operations staff and international fellows in Sierra Leone, with support from UK-based colleagues.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Planning
- Provide day-to-day leadership of the KGHP-SL team, integrating the clinical, training, policy, and research strands of the programme and fostering a values-driven culture of collaboration and mutual accountability
- Support the development and implementation of KGHP-SL’s country strategy, in close collaboration with the Partnership Lead, ensuring it is ambitious, evidence-based, and aligned with national health and partner priorities
- Actively contribute to KGHP’s cross-partnership strategy, sharing learning and experience with counterparts across KGHP’s six African country programmes and contributing to KGHP-wide approaches to health systems strengthening
Partnership & Stakeholder Engagement
- Serve as the primary in-country representative of KGHP-SL, maintaining trusted, senior level relationships with key partners including the Ministry of Health, Connaught Hospital, and COMAHS, and representing the partnership at national health forums and policy dialogues
- Work with the Partnership Lead to engage academics, clinicians, students, and managers at King’s College London and its affiliated NHS teaching hospitals, supporting their involvement in and contribution to KGHP-SL’s work
- Identify and develop new strategic partnerships that strengthen KGHP-SL’s impact, ensuring partnership principles of listening, transparency, and mutual accountability are embedded throughout
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships with other international NGOs, multilateral agencies, and technical partners working in Sierra Leone, coordinating where relevant to maximise complementarity and avoid duplication
Programme Delivery & Quality
- Oversee the design, planning, and delivery of all KGHP-SL programme activities, in close collaboration with the Programme Manager (UK based), ensuring high quality, alignment with donor requirements, and a consistent focus on sustainable impact
- Oversee KGHP-SL’s monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) frameworks, supported by the MEL advisor (UK based), ensuring data and evidence inform programme adaptation and organisational learning, and undertaking regular field visits across districts
People Management
- Line manage national staff and international personnel in Sierra Leone, including the recruitment, induction, supervision, performance management, and professional development of staff and international volunteers and fellows, ensuring transparent processes and adherence to safeguarding and occupational health standards
- Champion a positive, inclusive team culture that reflects KGHP’s values, promotes staff wellbeing and professional growth, and nurtures the motivation of national staff, international volunteers, and fellows alike
Financial Management & Operations
- Hold overall accountability for KGHP-SL’s financial performance and operational integrity, working closely with the Operations and Finance Manager who leads day-to day financial and administrative management, and ensuring robust systems are in place for risk management, safeguarding, and donor compliance
- Oversee high-quality narrative and financial reporting to donors, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and alignment with reporting requirements and KGHP standards
Resource Mobilisation & Communications
- Proactively identify and pursue new funding opportunities, building relationships with prospective donors and consortium partners, and leading the development of concept notes and grant proposals in collaboration with the Partnership Lead and UK team
- Contribute to KGHP-SL’s external profile through publications, reports, and representation at national and international events, ensuring the partnership’s work and impact are effectively disseminated
Qualifications and Experience:
Essential Criteria:
- A qualification in a health professional discipline (e.g. medicine or nursing) • At least 5 years’ experience working in health systems strengthening, global health, or international development, with a significant portion in Sub-Saharan Africa
- Proven leadership experience, including managing multidisciplinary teams and driving organisational strategy
- Deep understanding of the Sierra Leone or wider West African health system, including key stakeholders, national policies, and sector challenges
- Excellent interpersonal, diplomatic, and cross-cultural skills, with the confidence and gravitas to engage senior government officials, academic partners, and international stakeholders
- Strong programme management skills, including planning, budgeting, financial oversight, MEL, and donor reporting
- An innovative and strategic thinker, comfortable operating with autonomy, managing competing priorities, and making sound decisions under pressure
- Spoken and written fluency in English
- Strong commitment to KGHP’s vision and values, including partnership principles of mutual respect, transparency, and locally-led development
Desirable Criteria:
- A postgraduate degree (Master’s or PhD) in global health, public health, international development, or a related discipline
- Experience of health research and an ability to support KGHP-SL’s research capacity building agenda
- Experience working with institutional donors (e.g. FCDO, IrishAid), research funders (e.g. MRC, NIHR) and/or foundation (e.g. Gates Foundation) and a track record of contributing to successful grant applications
- Established networks within the Sierra Leone health sector or with relevant international organisations and donors
- Experience managing international volunteers or fellows
- Fluency in Krio or other local languages
