I hereby submit my expression of interest in response to your job postings received on social media from a friend on February 15,2024 for a Finance Manager. I am certain that, based on my professional background, I am the ideal candidate for this position. I have the right combination of skills, knowledge, and experience. I am a Sierra Leonean development finance practitioner with strong background on financial and grants management. I have more than 10 years of experience in senior management roles in the management of finances, grants, administration, procurement, and Human Resources management. I am a hard worker with proven experience in maintaining accounting records in accordance with organisational financial policies and procedures.
My commitment to excellence work standards will add value to your team as shown by my introduction of a more effective workflow system at my last employment. I am very proficient with the essential computer applications including Microsoft Office 365, Word, Excel, outlook, and knowledgeable in cloud-based computerized accounting software such as Oracle, QuickBooks etc. I can adjust to all types of environments and work well with employees and management under pressure to meet strict deadlines. I am a fast learner; for example, I had to learn a totally new operating system in my last employment.
I have a Master of Business Administration in Finance. I also hold a Second Class First Division Bachelor’s Degree with Honours in Applied Accounting. I am committed to maintaining and updating my financial and accounting knowledge and abilities. I’m presently in the professional final stage of the Association of Chartered and Certified Accountant (ACCA).
Over the last 10 years, my engagement has been providing lead roles on financial and grants management for various organisations, across for-profits and non-profits sectors. I was the Finance Manager for CARE Sierra Leone and Liberia until September 2023. I started working for CARE Sierra Leone and Liberia in June 2015, serving in a range of positions, including programme accountant, grants and compliance officer, grants coordinator, and deputy finance manager until being promoted to my current position. Prior to that, I was employed by Ecozone Group (SL) Limited as the Finance and Administrative Manager. Additionally, while working with World Hope International, I served in a variety of roles, first as a project accountant, then as a finance and administrative officer, and finally as the organization’s head of finance and administration
My accomplishments included overseeing the preparation and review of financial reports, grants management and compliance from pre-award through closeout phases, budget preparation and monitoring, internal/external audit planning and coordination, risk identification and risk management, fraud awareness training, and successfully provided financial training to both finance and non-finance staff. I can build effective systems, tools and provide advice to project managers and partners in the area of financial management – including support with financial monitoring, reporting, auditing and compliance with internal controls and donor/shareholders regulations.
One of the key skills that I have acquired over the years is the ability to successfully learn implement and manage new accounting systems and procedures. I enjoy the challenge of integrating new systems and working with a wider finance and non-finance team to ensure a smooth and productive workflow. I have a proactive management style with highly developed communication skills.
I will bring not only my years of experience but also my personal drive for results and positive outcomes.
