About Candidate

Isatu Isata Kamara is a Citizen of Sierra Leone, Resident at 14E Massorkoh Line, Magbura, Tonkolili District. She is a Development Worker with extensive experience working in the Education Sector in Sierra Leone. She holds a bachelor’s degree in education from the Milton Margai College of Education, Science and Technology (MMCET).

Isatu has over 5 years of work experience in the development sector, mainly in the areas of Education, Livelihoods and private sector development. She has worked with many Education Development focused Organizations in Sierra Leone including Concern Worldwide, MOTT MACDONALDS and Save the Earth Foundation Sierra Leone (a national Non-Governmental Organization). She has extensive knowledge in working with early grade learners, Education Stakeholders (at National and District Levels) and school leaders. She is knowledgeable on teacher training approaches including; Learner-centred pedagogic techniques, teaching of foundation skills for teaching literacy, numeracy and stakeholder/parental engagements, data collection and monitoring processes with the use of kobo collect, phone builder and other tools.

Isatu Isata Kamara has strong experience in building and sustaining good relationships with internal and external stakeholders including local and national government agencies, private sector and relevant sector working groups. She has severally demonstrated good knowledge of building and managing large-scale projects with expertise in work planning, budgeting, performance management, knowledge management (reporting and documentation), and project closure including Audit and Evaluation to measure success.

• Reporting to the Education Programme Manager, the Senior Learning Coach is responsible for providing direct support to primary school teachers, through coaching, to improve the quality of teaching in general, with a specific focus on early grade reading skills. • Supports head teachers in primary schools to be leaders for learning and increase students’ opportunities to learn. • To coordinate the enhanced development of social and emotional skills among children of age 6 to 8 years. S/he will support teachers in the development of social and emotional skills of children of grade 1 to 3. • Support the establishment of SEL (socio-emotional Learning) groups in respective primary school children of class 1 to 3 and to give support on how to use SEL supporting classroom materials. • Provide support to teachers in rolling out of SEL sessions using SEL manual. • Have a role of supporting the prevention of SRGBV in schools through enabling school club facilitators in running Anti-SRGBV school club sessions. • Support in linking the results of SRGBV prevention works in school to SRGBV prevention work in the respective communities in Tonkolili District • Participate in all trainings to become technically equipped to implement the programme. These include trainings in the teaching of reading and writing skills, coaching methods and prevention and response of School Related Gender-Based Violence. • Coach teachers in 5 primary schools on a routine basis on teaching practice, with a particular focus on early grade reading skills. • Facilitate the training of head teachers, teachers, School Management Committee, and Community Conversation Facilitators in school leadership and provide on-going follow-up and coaching support to teachers and head teachers throughout the life of the project. • Support teachers in the preparation, use and management of instructional materials, including story books and reference books. • Support teachers and cluster coaches in the implementation of Teacher Learning Circles for on-site professional development. • Provide continuous follow up support—through coaching—and monitoring visits to 5 schools
