About Company

FOOP is an organization helping food growers in Sierra Leone to overcome hunger by providing inputs and mechanization of services on loan. Through crop rotation and regenerative farming techniques, we improve food self-sufficiency, protect the land, improve nutrition, and diversify incomes. We believe that farming is a tool to overcome poverty, FOOP targets farmers under the subsistence line; those who are not even able to produce enough to feed their families, let alone generate a surplus to trade.

We are a new not-for-profit, which was founded by the founders of Warc, a social enterprise with over 10 years of farming experience in the region. Warc was first established in Sierra Leone, where the founders gathered invaluable experience by operating in the country and the region uninterruptedly since 2011. Through Warc, they developed a strong network of international funders, research institutions, and other supporters, and through a decade-long local presence, very strong links to many communities. The learnings, experienced, frustrations and achievements, lead us to shift our strategy to have the desired impact. FOOP is the solution to target the most vulnerable farmers, who are consistently neglected by commercially driven organizations.

Our offices are located in Freetown, Sierra Leone, and our operational hub is at Tormabum. We employ 46 full-time workers, the majority of our staff is from Sierra Leone, 5 from South America, and a bunch of employees from different countries working remotely.
