Job Title: WASH engineer

WASH engineer*
in Freetown
The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with an initial contract duration of four(4) months.
Employment location will be in Matrujong, Bonthe District. The position is paid according to WHH paygrade.
Community members in the intervention communities have access to safely managed and protected water supply systems and hygiene and sanitation facilities and apply safe nutrition, hygiene and sanitation practices
Community members in the intervention communities have access to sustainably managed VSLA based services and invest in WASH facilities
Lessons learnt on WASH Self Supply are disseminated on national level
Your responsibilities
Develop plans, design, and manage WASH infrastructure projects, including water supply systems, sanitation facilities, and hygiene promotion activities.
- Conduct site investigation and develop Bill of Quantities (BoQs) including materials, costing and work specifications for WASH infrastructure according to Ministry of water resources requirements and minimum standards.
- Provide technical specifications to logistics team during local procurement process on construction materials in co-ordination with Welthungerhilfe WASH HOP
Supervise contractors and labourers to ensure compliance with design specifications and quality standards.
Conduct regular field visits to monitor project progress, provide technical instructions, and resolve any issues that arise within the community. Perform final inspections and prepare completion reports for contracted completion work.
Train Water User Committees and other stakeholders on sustainable management practices.
Develop work plans for proposed activities and report against these schedules.
Install WASH infrastructure and equipment at health facilities and ensure quality of technical works and construction progress.
Establish and oversee the implementation of WASH management systems and supervise regular monitoring – e.g. water quality testing.
Monitor, supervise, and assist in the implementation of WASH activities, with emphasis on community capacity building for hygiene behaviours. Represent Welthungerhilfe at relevant local level coordination meetings involving local authorities, and other I/NGOS and WASH Cluster.
Your profile :
Higher diploma / equivalent in civil engineering, / Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering is desirable.
Advance knowledge of Ms office: Word,excel,power point and MS Teams
Excellent spoken and written English language skills
