Call for applications: Field Data Collectors
Background
Engage Salone is recruiting quantitative and qualitative data collectors for a national study on decentralisation and service delivery in Sierra Leone. This study is part of the Strengthening Accountability and Governance through Evidence (SAGE) project implemented by Engage Salone and supported by the International Development Research Centre (IDRC). The study will use a mixed-methods approach to generate evidence and insights into how political dynamics influence decentralization, governance, and service delivery across selected districts in Sierra Leone: (Western Area Urban, Western Area Rural, Bo, Bombali, Kono and Port Loko districts).
Roles
Quantitative Data Collectors/Enumerators (20 openings)
Requirements
- Demonstrated ability to use smartphones or tablets for data collection (experience with KoBoToolbox/ODK is an advantage)
- Prior experience in surveys, field data collection, or similar activities is preferred ● Strong willingness to learn and follow data collection protocols accurately
- Ability to communicate effectively in Krio and/or relevant local languages ● Good attention to detail and ability to follow instructions carefully
- Reliable, committed, and able to work under field conditions
- Must have attained Senior Secondary School or higher level of education. University students, fresh, unemployed graduates are encouraged to apply.
Qualitative Researcher/KII and FGD Facilitators (10 openings) Requirements
- Proven ability to facilitate discussions, interviews, or community engagements ● Experience in qualitative research (FGDs, KIIs) is preferred but not strictly required if strong facilitation skills are demonstrated
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Fluency in English and at least one relevant local language
- Ability to listen actively, probe effectively, and manage group dynamics
- High level of professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical conduct

- Commitment to ethical research practice, including adherence to informed consent procedures and protection of participant confidentiality
- Formal education in social sciences or related fields is an advantage, but practical experience and skills are prioritized
- Minimum educational qualification of a university degree or equivalent and recent graduates are strongly encouraged to apply
