AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) is an international non- profit NGO based in Los Angeles, California, USA. AHF operates across 45 countries worldwide and has 2.3M+ patients in care, the majority of these being in Africa. AHF Africa comprises 14 country programs. AHF collaborates with the Governments of these countries through Ministries /Departments of Health (MoH) to provide cutting edge medicine and free HIV and AIDS services, including antiretroviral therapy in resource constrained settings.
AHF is registered in Sierra Leone as AHF-Sierra Leone and offers services on HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment, and care services in collaboration with the Government of Sierra Leone and other stakeholders. The organisation now seeks to hire a highly competent, dynamic, and experienced person to fill the position below on a two-year contract of employment.
Nurse In- Charge Kabala Clinic – 1 Position
The position holder shall report to the Medical Officer in Makeni. The Nurse in charge will manage the daily running of the clinic to ensure patients get quality and timely care in line with AHF and Sierra Leone government standards. May act as a team leader within the scope of the practice guidelines as dictated by the scope of practice of nurses. The holder of this position will perform among others the following duties
- Plans and provides skilled nursing care to clients on an outpatient basis
- Supervise activities of Nurses, Dispensers, Linkage coordinator Counselors, HIV Medics and ART aides to ensure professionalism in delivery of work and continuous improvement in quality of services delivered
- Trains, mentors and coaches staff under her/his supervision with the overall aim of improving standards and quality of care
- Leads the implementation of protocols to improve triage, patient appointments management, pharmacy inventory management, linkage to care, adherence and quality improvement of nursing care.
- Monitors and supervises the dispensing of drugs and prescription of drug refills by Nurses and HIV Medics
- Charts notes and medication administration according to protocol.
- Provides patient and family education and counseling
- Coordinates nursing care to outreach posts in lower health facilities as planned by the site in-charges
- Assists staff to inculcate and promote the practice and discipline of confidentiality
- Ensures proper management of medical wastes and infection control procedures are maintained by all staff in the facility
- Leads and coordinates meetings with the nursing team, counselors, and other lay providers and also participates in general staff meetings once every month
- Participates/leads CMEs for staff under supervision at least once every month
- Maintains a management plan to ensure patients stay adherent to their medication
- Assists medical staff with examinations and procedures.
- Consults with other team members on patient care and fosters team building.
- Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education and Experience
- Must be double-trained at registered level or its equivalent from an accredited nursing training institution.
- Should have a diploma in Nursing administration or its equivalent
- Must be registered with the Nurses and Midwives council
- Must have served for at least 8-10 years as a health worker.
License:
- Must possess a valid practicing license and be registered with the Nurses and Midwives council.
