Job Title: Orchard/ Tree Nursery Supervisor

Location: Rotifunk Town, Bumpeh Chiefdom, Moyamba District

Organisation: Center for Community Empowerment and Transformation – (CCET- SL)

Report To: Program Manager

Employment Type: Full-Time

Job Summary

The Center for Community Empowerment & Transformation is a 13-year Community Based Organization established to transform Bumpeh Chiefdom for sustainable development through education and agriculture. We are seeking an experienced Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of a 60-acre Orchard and Tree Nursery that generate income to fund community education programs. The ideal candidate should have strong organization leadership skills, horticulture and marketing experience, can map and identify potential customers and has a hands-on approach to ensure the health and productivity of both staff and plants.

 Key Responsibilities:

Supervise and coordinate all activities related to planting, cultivation, irrigation, fertilization, pruning, pest/disease control, and harvesting of orchard crops and nursery seedlings. Identify and implement improved operating practices and techniques.

Manage advertising and marketing of orchard produce and nursery seedlings to meet income goals.

Map and identify potential customers to meet income projections.

Maximize orchard productivity by growing short-term crops and replacing tree crops over time with new, more profitable varieties.

Oversee the propagation and care of nursery tree seedlings. Introduce new varieties based on market trends and consumer demands.

Monitor plant health and soil condition; recommend and implement corrective actions.

Lead, train, and manage a team of orchard and nursery workers and seasonal laborers.

Manage employee safety for all activities and ensure implementation and adherence to health and safety procedures.

Maintain records and report on crop progress, inventory, production levels, sales, and labour hours.

Collaborate with CCET-SL management on scheduling, resource allocation, and continuous improvement.

Coordinate with suppliers for seeds, equipment and other materials.

Maintain orchard and nursery infrastructure and equipment.

Required Qualifications:

Degree or Diploma in Horticulture, Agriculture, Agribusiness Management or related field.

Minimum 3 years of experience in orchard and nursery management, including team supervision. Experience growing orchard tree crops like coconuts, oil palm, citrus, avocados, etc.

Experience in developing Orchard and Tree Nursery growing plans to meet income generation goals.

Strong knowledge of horticultural practices, pest and disease management using an integrated approach (IPM), organic/sustainable practices and irrigation systems.

Ability to operate and maintain farm equipment and tools

Good organizational management and team development skills.

Strong oral and written English communication skills.

Computer and recording-keeping skills

Able to work extended hours and some weekends as required

Self-motivated and detail oriented.

Physically fit and willing to work in varying weather conditions.

Ability to ride motor bike.
