Programme Assistant to WASH Systems Strengthening Coordinator*
in Freetown
The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with an initial contract duration of one year. There are very good prospects for an extension. Employment location will be in Freetown, The position is paid according to WHH paygrade.
The specific objectives of the project are:
Delivering services to users through new infrastructure investments and strengthening of service providers (micro level)
Strengthen local and national government or service authorities in their functions (meso level)
Influence regional or national and international actors and strengthen the enabling environment for service delivery (macro level)
Your responsibilities
Key tasks for the Programmes Assistant to global wash coordinator includes the following:
- Assist the WASH Systems Strengthening Coordinator (the Coordinator) in setting up and coordinating the Learning & Exchange module of the program.
Support the Coordinator in ensuring effective and transparent use of financial resources allocated to the Learning and Exchange module and overall
- Assist the Coordinator in timely reporting in line with donor regulations and WHH policies and procedures.
Assist the Coordinator in the coordination of program training and learning events and any other duties assigned.
- Maintain access to a network of subject matter experts inside and outside the program that can be utilized and managed by project teams and other stakeholders involved. Maintenance of the program’s filing structure.
Maintenance of the program’s contact lists including a Global contact directory (all stakeholders from all countries categorized with filter options). Maintenance and following up on use of templates by the respective country implementation structures.
Format newsletters learning briefs and other program related publications and manage the relevant distribution lists.
Support the WASH Systems Strengthening Coordinator in the effective management of all outputs related to the Learning & Exchange Module in terms of international visibility, positioning, publications, exchange events, dissemination and anchoring of learnings and good practice examples
Your profile :
A Graduate degree in Project Management or a related field from an accredited University is required, with additional qualifications in WASH, particularly WASH governance or social sciences considered an advantage
3 to 5 years of experience working with non-government organizations (NGOs) humanitarian or other or government parastatals
Strong communication financial management skills, are essential, including the ability to review and monitor budgets, develop case studies, mentor colleagues, and manage reporting in complex multi-country settings. High-level communication expertise, coupled with technical knowledge, is crucial for effectively conveying key messages and ensuring impactful engagement.
