Position Overview
The Radiologist will provide expert diagnostic imaging services at Koidu Government Hospital (KGH), supporting clinical teams in delivering high-quality patient care. As the Radiology Unit manager, the position will oversee all radiology operations, ensure quality standards, support staff capacity building, and coordinate collaboration between clinical and diagnostic teams. This role combines direct clinical responsibilities with management, training, and strategic oversight of the radiology services at KGH.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Perform and interpret diagnostic imaging studies, including X-rays, ultrasound, CT-scan and other modalities as available.
  • Provide radiological consultations to clinical teams and contribute to multidisciplinary case discussions.
  • Oversee daily operations of the Radiology Unit, ensuring optimal use of equipment and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for diagnostic imaging.
  • Train and mentor radiology technicians, clinicians, and other relevant staff.
  • Support continuous quality improvement and audit processes within the radiology department.
  • Advise PIHSL and MOH on new medical technologies to procure in order to improve quality of patients’ care.
  • Ensure compliance with infection prevention and control (IPC) standards and radiation safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with biomedical engineers and logistics teams to maintain equipment functionality.
  • Contribute to the hospital’s clinical governance and quality management systems.
  • Work with MOH and PIH co-management team to create and implement in a transparent fashion the administrative, registration and fee collection systems within the Radiology unit at KGH
  • Participate in departmental and hospital-level planning, budgeting, and reporting
  • Engage in capacity-building initiatives and represent the Radiology Unit in external meetings when required.
Education and Work Experience Requirements: 
  • Medical Degree (MD or MBChB) with specialization in Radiology.
  •  Minimum of 5 years of post-specialization experience as a Radiologist.
  • Experience working in a resource-limited or rural healthcare setting is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a multidisciplinary clinical team.
  • Strong diagnostic and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and mentoring abilities.
  • Proficiency in ultrasound and plain film imaging is required; experience in CT/MRI interpretation is an added advantage.
