Position: Senior Accounts & Finance Officer (SAFO) 

Job Location: Freetown, BRAC Sierra Leone

 

About the Role:

To support BRAC Sierra Leone finance department for a sustainable high quality financial management in respect of timely and accurate posting and documentation.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

 

  • Facilitate cash payment requests
  • Analyze and code financial transactions
  • Prepare journal vouchers with complete entries and presents for approval
  • Manage and oversee filing and documentation as completeness and timeliness
  • Post transactions on accounting software daily basis and documents preservations
  • Perform daily cash book writing and prepare cash certificate
  • Due consideration of double entries in cost accounting method
  • Check and collect bank statements, credit advice and debit advice on a weekly basis.
  • Analyze and code financial transactions
  • Prepare journal vouchers with complete entries and presents for approval
  • Manage and oversee filing and documentation as completeness and timeliness
  • Post transactions on accounting software daily basis.
  • Perform monthly accounts reconciliation including (A/R, A/P, Bank, Cash, Prepayments, etc.).
  • Prepare NASSIT, WHT, Employee Tax and submit timely.
  • To regularly look after all the accounts at the field level and to support and advice.
  • Check and collect bank statements, credit advice and debit advice on a weekly basis
  • Financial reporting 

 

Safeguarding

 

  • Establish a safeguarding culture across all levels of the program by implementing the safeguarding policy. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
  • Responsible to ensure team members are appropriately trained, supported and have access to resources regarding issues that are identified and actioned in accordance with the safeguarding policy and procedure.

 

Academic Qualifications: 

  • Graduate/Post Graduate Degree in Accounting/Financial Studies or related field of study from a recognized university.
  • Professional certification in CA/CPA/CMA is an added advantage.

 

Required Skills, Competencies & Knowledge:

  • Excellent writing and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to priorities tasks and manage time efficiently.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Highly mobile & flexible to work from distant location. (Relevant for specific role)
  • Overseeing and travel to project sites when required.
  • Possess high ethical and moral standards.
  • Sensible and adaptive to diverse work cultures.
  • Computerized accounting skills.
  • Knowledge of financial policies.
  • Knowledge of IAS.
  • Skill to prepare financial statements of the organizations.
  • Knowledge of Banking rules & regulation.

Experience Requirements:  

  • Minimum of three years’ experience required in NGO Operations preferably. Hands-on experience with statistical analysis
