Main responsibilities of the position
As HVAC specialized Performing Maintenance plan, installation, troubleshooting and repairs of HVAC sys-tem (Air-conditioning, Freezers, Fridge, Cold chain & Ventilation system) in all MSF facility such as Hospital, houses and structures according to Energy supervisor’s instructions and MSF standards and procedures, in order to ensure a proper functioning of equipment in perfect running condition of MSF equipment related to HVAC systems including installations and infrastructures.
Accountabilities
- Performing autonomously, all necessary complex / advanced installations, maintenance and repairs (i.e. requiring special qualifications/training), according to the supervisor’s instructions and executes any needed tests after any repair or maintenance. Including the following functions:
- Qualified Electrician
- Qualified HVAC
- Biomed Technician
- Making suggestions regarding any repair or maintenance work needed in MSF electrical installations, equipment and/or vehicles and assisting logistics department for any relative work needed.
- Managing the stock of consumable items, filling in the stock cards, carrying out physical stock inventories, executing orders necessary for renewing stock, avoiding any shortage.
- Responsible for the equipment and tools, including extinguishers, checking they are correctly and safely used, maintaining and renewing them when necessary and keeping the inventory updated.
- Keeping working area clean and tidy.
- Ensuring that all record sheets and books related to logistical maintenance are always completed. Preparing needed reports before and after any repair or required maintenance.
- Immediately informing the line manager of any problems that arise in the course of the work, particularly with regards to damage, loss, theft or attempted break-ins.
- Working in collaboration with other specialised technicians and workers, if necessary, or managing a small team of workers.
- Under the supervision of energy sup and as advised when needed, performing the day-to-day tasks, service and maintenance all HVAC systems and follow up.
- Performing and assist in all necessary maintenance, repairs and new installation of HVAC and cold chain equipment’s such as air Conditioning units, ventilation systems, Refrigerators, fridges, and freezers and required tests under direction of Energy SUP as per daily, weekly, monthly & yearly maintenance of systems.
- Reporting immediately on logging fault, loss, theft, breaks or any other issue and regular feedback related to HVAC equipment at the course of the work on time to the supervisor and conducting repairs when appropriate. If maintenance work requires further assistance, documentation, or additional tools, this shall be requested to and provided by his/her supervisor.
- Responsible for the equipment and tools, checking they are correctly and safely used, maintaining, and renewing them when necessary, and keeping the inventory updated.
- Assist with urgent support/ advice and carry out critical HVAC tasks or diagnosing faults and corrective maintenance interventions.
- Following up on maintenance contracts with external contractors upon request by Energy SUP or Functional manager.
- Ensuring that all record sheets and books related to maintenance are always completed (including date of intervention, replaced parts, problems, and solutions) and preparing needed reports before and after any repair or required maintenance.
- Keeping working area clean and tidy.
- Ensure the briefing and training of MSF staff regarding the correct use and basic maintenance of all types of HVAC installations Systems.
- Carry out and update the HVAC installations and equipment inventory (TMS) in MSF and MSF supported facilities.
- As specialized technician performing all activities as per MSF procedures and protocols are followed to guarantee the operational quality of the project and assist for development of HVAC systems.
- Collaborate and ensure any further installations/ activities or assessments are carried out in MSF facility or where MSF is cooperating or operating through the outreach team
- Following up on maintenance contracts with external contractors upon request by Energy team manager
- Assisting for inventory stock for the consumable, spare parts and backup equipment at mission level, carrying out physical stock inventories, executing orders necessary for renewing stock, avoiding any shortage and advising on requirement local or international orders for consumables and spare parts
- Defining and organizing the HVAC maintenance schedule to ensure that proper maintenance gets done on all equipment as defined by MSF protocols
- Coordinating with the medical teams to ensure that the HVAC activities will lead to the least amount of disturbances of the patients and staff. This includes:
- Communicating the HVAC maintenance schedule to the medical teams to make them aware of planned maintenance tasks
- Support the medical teams to clear out and install back any space needed for the HVAC maintenance
- Wear the necessary PPD as recommended by the medical team
- Respond to HVAC issues reported by the medical teams
- Working in collaboration with other specialized technicians and workers, if necessary, or managing a small team of workers.
- Identifying, defining, and implementing solutions and strategies that reduce the environmental footprint of the HVAC installations in the project. These strategies englobe not only technical solutions but also how the HVAC installations are used, maintained, and managed. The main objective of reducing the environmental footprint entails energy efficiency, reducing the carbon dioxide emissions, reducing refrigerant gas emissions, a proper waste management and the use of sustainable and adapted solutions according to the context.
