Opportunity 

The Agricultural Extension Officer offers a Supports smallholder farmers and community groups to adopt sustainable, nutrition-sensitive agricultural practices, including vegetable, fruit, OFSP, and hybrid poultry production. Manages demonstration sites, irrigation systems, and input distribution while strengthening farmer and market actor capacity. Contributes to improved household access to diverse, nutrient-rich foods and maternal and child dietary diversity, while supporting planning, coordination, monitoring, and reporting of project activities.

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Technical support to nutrition sensitive agriculture intervention: Oversee procurement, distribution, installation, and proper utilization of agricultural inputs; conduct soil testing and provide crop management advice in coordination with agronomists; work with farmers to enhance yields and nutrient-rich food production, ensuring effective access to productive resources and contribute to improved nutrition and sustainable agricultural productivity

 

  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date program records, develop workplans, coordinate field activities, prepare reports, collect and analyze data, and document lessons learned; involve communities in participatory planning and adaptive management to ensure timely delivery, accountability, and evidence-based decision-making that aligns with project objectives and maximizes impact. 
  • Problem Resolution: Address any issues related to Framers, such as delays, quality concerns, or discrepancies in orders, and work with Stakeholders to resolve them promptly.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with a fluent writing style and good knowledge and practical use of English Language.

 

Education/Training required

  • Advanced university degree (master’s or equivalent) in Agriculture, or related area from a recognized institution.

 

Desired: 

  • A first-level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.

 

Experience 

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Agriculture with working knowledge of classical Agricultural techniques and tools including problem solving, effective action.

 

Desired

    • Experience working at senior level in international NGO is desired.
  • Significant experience in applying Agricultural principles to NGO settings.

 

Technical Skills

Required:

  • Extensive knowledge of Agriculture.
  • Proven experience as an Agricultural Officer, or similar role.
  • Strong understanding of Agri. Activities and Agricultural processes with Farmers and stakeholders, developing training materials and educational content.
  • Excellent understanding of crop management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to multitask.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of agricultural technics and best practices.
