Works Closely With: School Leadership, Teachers, and Program Staff

Position Summary

The Social Worker supports EduNations’ mission by providing direct social and psychosocial care to students, helping them overcome barriers to learning and personal development. This role focuses on case management, counselling, and student support services to promote emotional wellbeing, safety, and holistic growth.

Working closely with the Social and Psychosocial Program Coordinator and school staff, the Social Worker plays a key role in identifying student needs, delivering interventions, and strengthening connections between students, families, and community resources.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Student Support & Case Management

  • Provide direct counselling and psychosocial support to students experiencing social, emotional, or behavioral challenges.
  • Identify at-risk students and develop appropriate support and intervention plans.
  • Maintain individual case files and ensure proper documentation of services provided.
  • Monitor student progress and adjust support plans as needed.

Family & Community Engagement

  • Engage with families to support student wellbeing and strengthen home–school relationships.
  • Conduct home visits where appropriate to better understand student circumstances.
  • Coordinate referrals to community services, including healthcare, mental health, and social support agencies.

School-Based Support

  • Collaborate with teachers and school leadership to support student behavior, attendance, and wellbeing.
  • Participate in school meetings to discuss student needs and intervention strategies.
    Support the implementation of school-based social and psychosocial programs.

Child Protection & Safeguarding

  • Identify and report child protection concerns in accordance with EduNations’ policies and procedures.
  • Maintain appropriate professional boundaries with students at all times.
  • Support awareness of child protection practices among students and staff.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate, confidential, and up-to-date records of all student interactions and services.
  • Prepare reports on casework and student support activities as required.
  • Ensure all documentation aligns with organizational policies and ethical standards.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Strong interpersonal and counselling skills.
  • Ability to work with children and adolescents in a compassionate and professional manner.
  • Knowledge of child development and basic psychosocial support practices.
  • Ability to handle sensitive situations with confidentiality and sound judgment.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and across school environments.

Experience

  • Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in social work, counselling, or related fields, preferably in under-resourced or rural communities.
  • Experience working with children, adolescents, or school-based programs is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in NGO, nonprofit, or community-based settings is an asset.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Relevant certification or training in counselling, child protection, or social services is an advantage.

Compensation: 

To be determined based upon an initial 1 year contract which can be renewed for a  2-year contract.
