POSITION SUMMARY:
The M&E Assistant will support the implementation of monitoring and evaluation activities for two health
projects focused on improving maternal, newborn, and antenatal care services in Sierra Leone. The
role involves routine data collection, verification, analysis, and reporting to ensure high-quality data is
available for decision-making, learning, and accountability.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Data Management
Conduct regular data verification and validation exercises at facility and community levels.
Ensure accurate and timely data entry into project databases and national health information
systems (e.g., DHIS2).
Maintain organized records of all M&E data (both digital and hard copy).
Assist in tracking key indicators related to maternal health, newborn care, and ANC services.
Support implementation of Data Quality Assessments (DQAs).
Provide on-the-job mentorship to facility staff on proper data recording and reporting.
Monitoring Activities
Participate in supportive supervision visits to health facilities and community health workers.
Track progress against project indicators, targets, and work plans.
Support monitoring of service delivery quality, including ANC visits, skilled birth attendance, and
newborn care practices.
Reporting
Assist in preparing weekly, monthly, and quarterly M&E reports. Compile data summaries, charts, and dashboards for internal and donor reporting.
Support documentation of success stories, lessons learned, and best practices.
Coordination & Collaboration
Work closely with program teams, health facility staff, and district health management teams.
Ensure alignment with national M&E frameworks and Ministry of Health reporting systems.
Support any other relevant tasks as requested by your supervisor.ESSENTIAL:
Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Statistics, Demography, Social Sciences, or
related field
At least 1–2 years of experience in M&E, preferably in health programs
Experience with data collection tools (e.g., DHIS2, KoboToolbox, SurveyCTO, Google Forms, or
similar).
Experience with field data collection and supervision
Basic knowledge of M&E concepts, results frameworks, indicators, and evaluation methods.
Ability to use Microsoft Excel and other data management tools for basic analysis and reporting.
Experience working with maternal, newborn, or reproductive health programs is an advantage
