AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) is an international non- profit NGO based in Los Angeles, California, USA. AHF operates across 50 countries worldwide and has 2.7M+ patients in care, the majority of these being in Africa. AHF Africa comprises 13 country programs. AHF collaborates with the Governments of these countries through Ministries /Departments of Health (MoH) to provide cutting edge medicine and free HIV and AIDS services, including antiretroviral therapy in resource constrained settings.
AHF is registered in Sierra Leone as AHF-Sierra Leone, offers services on HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment, and care services in collaboration with the Government of Sierra Leone and other stakeholders.
The organisation now seeks to hire a highly competent, dynamic, and experienced persons to fill the positions below.
COMMUNITY HEALTH OFFICER (CHO) – MAKENI WELLNESS CLINIC
The position holder shall report to the Medical Officer. The Community Health Officer is responsible for co-ordination of all AIDS Healthcare Foundation’s (AHF) programs at the clinic. S/he provides leadership at the clinic and ensures that AHF’s mission statement, core values, and key partnership standards and practices are the foundation of AHF’s strategies and work. The holders of these positions will perform among others the following duties.
- Management and coordination of clinic activities.
- Provides day to day management of HIV/AIDS patients including patients on ART.
- Effective and active management of clients at the facility.
- Maintenance and ordering of OI’s and other non-pharmaceuticals.
- Ensures proper patient record keeping on ART, Pre ART, and other records according to the ministry of health guidelines and stock keeping on all drugs at the facility.
- In close collaboration with the facility medical officer, ensure the provision of quality, evidencebased ART, EMTCT (triple elimination), prevention and TB services.
- Initiate and expand PITC in the supported health facilities
- Organize for patient follow-up in collaboration with the community programs for default clients.
- Responsible for making and sending timely reports to the Country Program Director, ministry of health and other stakeholders as required.
- Works in partnership with the hospital committee team and other stakeholders.
- Provides leadership and supervision of junior staff.
- Responsible for management of petty cash at the facility.
- Other duties as may be assigned depending on programmatic need.
Education and/or Experience
- Diploma in clinical medicine obtained from a reputable training institution.
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in managing HIV positive patients.
- Must be registered with the Clinical Officer Council of Sierra Leone.
