JOB DESCRIPTION

 

JOB TITLE Regional Coordinator (3 Positions)
LOCATION Assigned regions in Sierra Leone with regular travel to districts, schools and  communities.
REPORTING AND  MANAGEMENTReports to the Delivery Lead – School Leadership and District Strengthening and  supervise District Officers.  

Works closely district education offices, SQAOs, principals, school boards, local  authorities and programme partners to coordinate implementation across  assigned regions. C

JOB SUMMARY This role sits within the forthcoming Leaders in Teaching (LiT) Sierra Leone  programme, a Government of Sierra Leone initiative to be implemented by Lɛ Wi  Lan (LWL), in partnership with Transforming Teaching, Education and Learning (T TEL) and other partners, with funding support from the Mastercard Foundation.  

LWL is a Sierra Leonean-led organisation committed to advancing education  transformation nationally. Its vision is transformed education for development in  Sierra Leone, and its mission is to provide educational technical assistance in  close partnership with government to promote quality education and inclusive  growth. 

The Regional Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and supporting the  implementation of regional and district-level activities across all four pillars of  Learning together (LiT) Sierra Leone, ensuring effective integration, alignment,  and delivery of programme objectives. Within the LEAD pillar, the role ensures  effective coordination of school leadership development, governance  strengthening, school support and monitoring visits, School Improvement  Planning (SIP), performance management, and the promotion of safe, inclusive,  and child-friendly school reforms.  

The post holder serves as the primary regional liaison between national  programme teams, government institutions, district education authorities,  communities, and schools, fostering collaboration, strengthening partnerships,  and ensuring the successful achievement of programme outcomes and education  quality improvements across the region.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB  

RESPONSIBILITIES  (Will include but  

not limited to-)

1. Regional Coordination and Programme Delivery 

Coordinate and supervise the implementation of LiT Sierra Leone  activities across all four programme pillars within assigned regions and  districts. 

Provide line management, technical guidance, performance oversight,  and professional support to District Officers based in District Education  Offices, ensuring high-quality delivery of programme activities and  achievement of agreed targets. 

Support District Officers to develop, implement, monitor, and report on  district workplans, ensuring alignment with programme objectives and  priorities. 

Serve as the primary regional liaison between LiT Sierra Leone,  government institutions, district stakeholders, and schools. 

District Team Leadership, Coordination and Technical Support Supervise, mentor, and provide performance management support to  District Officers based within District Education Offices. 

Provide technical guidance, coaching, and quality assurance to District  Officers to ensure effective delivery of programme interventions. Ensure consistency, quality, and accountability in programme delivery  across districts through regular review meetings, field visits, and  performance feedback. 

Foster collaboration, communication, and knowledge sharing between  District Officers, national programme teams, and government  

stakeholders. 

2. Monitoring, Reporting and Evidence Use 

Prepare progress reports, meeting records and implementation updates. Identify delivery challenges and recommend solutions. 

Support MEL activities and programme learning. 

Safeguarding Inclusion and Duty of Care 

Support safe, accessible and inclusive arrangements for meetings and  activities. 

Promote safeguarding, gender equality and disability inclusion in  administrative processes. 

3. Other Duties 

Undertake any other duties assigned by programme leadership.

CANDIDATE  

SPECIFICATION

Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Sciences, Development Studies or  related field; postgraduate qualification desirable. 

At least 8 years experience in education programmes, including regional  and district-level coordination.

 

Strong understanding of Sierra Leone education systems and district  structures. 

Strong supervisory and coordination experiences 

Experience working with districts, schools, government stakeholders and  development partners. 

Strong facilitation, stakeholder engagement and coordination skills. Excellent report writing and communication skills. 

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital collaboration tools. Commitment to safeguarding, gender equity and disability inclusion. Willingness to travel extensively within assigned regions.
