🎯 Main Purpose of the Job
The Social Worker will provide professional social work and case-management services to girls who have experienced SGBV and other forms of vulnerability.
The main focus is to help each girl receive the right support, remain safe, recover, continue education, and—where appropriate—return safely to her family and community.
🔑 Main Responsibilities
- Case Management
- Assess girls referred to the shelter.
- Identify their needs, risks, strengths, and support systems.
- Develop individual case-management plans.
- Monitor each case from admission through discharge and reintegration.
- Make and follow up on referrals.
- Maintain confidential case files.
- Psychosocial Support
- Provide basic psychosocial support within professional competence.
- Help girls cope with trauma, stress, fear, and stigma.
- Identify girls who need specialized psychological or mental-health services.
- Organize appropriate individual/group support and recreational activities.
- Child Protection & Safeguarding
- Protect girls from further abuse, exploitation, neglect, and harm.
- Assess risks and develop safety plans.
- Report safeguarding concerns through proper channels.
- Ensure the best interests of the child guide decisions.
- Follow CAF-SL’s child-protection, safeguarding, PSEA, and Code of Conduct requirements.
- Family Tracing & Reintegration
- Assess families before reunification.
- Support safe family tracing.
- Develop reintegration plans.
- Prepare families and girls for reunification.
- Conduct follow-up visits after reintegration.
- Recommend alternative care when returning home is unsafe.
- Medical & Legal Referrals
- Identify health needs and arrange medical referrals.
- Follow up on medical appointments.
- Connect girls with legal and justice services when appropriate.
- Coordinate with relevant institutions such as health facilities, legal providers, and the Family Support Unit.
- Education Support
- Help girls return to school.
- Monitor attendance and educational progress.
- Identify barriers to education.
- Work with schools, caregivers, and education authorities.
- Community & Caregiver Engagement
- Work with parents, caregivers, and community structures.
- Promote positive and non-violent parenting.
- Strengthen community protection and referral systems.
- Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate case files and case-management records.
- Complete assessments, case plans, referrals, follow-up and discharge documentation.
- Prepare regular reports.
- Provide relevant information to the M&E Officer while protecting confidential information.
🎓 Required Qualifications
The applicant should have:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Social Sciences, Psychology, Sociology, Development Studies, Child Protection, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of relevant professional experience.
- Experience working with children, girls, SGBV survivors, or vulnerable populations.
- Practical experience in case management and referrals.
- Knowledge of child protection and survivor-centred approaches.
- Good communication, documentation, and report-writing skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Willingness to travel for home and community follow-up visits.

In simple terms
This is a hands-on child-protection and case-management job. The Social Worker will work directly with girls affected by SGBV, assess their needs, create and manage their cases, connect them to medical/legal/psychosocial services, work with their families and schools, and support safe recovery and reintegration.
Compared with the Caregiver position you shared earlier, this role requires a Bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years of professional experience, and it carries significantly more responsibility for case management, safeguarding, referrals, family reintegration, and professional documentation.
