Recruitment Profile: Digital Stewards – Dis Na Wi Voice 

Are you a young changemaker passionate about using digital media to amplify youth  voices in Sierra Leone? The Dis Na Wi Voice project is seeking 10 Digital  Stewards from Freetown to lead the creation and direction of a vibrant youth-led  digital community. As a Digital Steward, you will play a central role in shaping online  spaces where young people can share their stories, challenge stereotypes, and  inspire civic participation. You will guide content creators, mentor peers, and ensure  that our platforms remain safe, inclusive, and impactful. 

We are looking for candidates aged 18–24 who demonstrate strong digital literacy,  creativity, and a commitment to civic engagement. Ideal applicants will have  experience in youth leadership or community initiatives, excellent communication  skills, and the ability to foster inclusive dialogue across diverse groups. Digital  Stewards must be reliable, collaborative, and passionate about connecting online  activism with real-world change. This is a unique opportunity to become a role model  for your peers, influence national conversations, and help build a lasting platform for  youth voice in Sierra Leone. 

Role of Digital Stewards  

Leadership in digital community: They guide the vision, tone, and direction of the youth led digital platforms.  

Moderation and facilitation of digital community: provide a safe space for young people  to exchange ideas, questions, information and opportunities, organize new initiatives  and enhance collaboration and coordination. 

Content facilitation: They oversee contributions from the 100 approved youth content  creators, ensuring quality, relevance, and alignment with project goals. 

Mentorship: They act as role models and provide support to other young creators,  helping them improve skills and confidence.  

Community building: They foster safe, inclusive spaces for dialogue, activism, and  peer-to-peer learning.  

Integration with media hubs: Their work complements university radio hubs and  mainstream media placements, ensuring the digital community is part of a wider  ecosystem. 

Continuous promotion of the digital community: create content specifically designed to  promote the community, such as social media ads, visibility items and periodic quizzes  and games with prizes. 

Selection criteria 

  • Youth leadership experience: Demonstrated ability to lead or organize peers in civic,  media, or community initiatives. 
  • Digital literacy skills: Strong familiarity with social media platforms, content creation,  and responsible digital engagement. 
  • Commitment to civic participation: Clear interest in promoting youth voice, rights, and  activism. 
  • Communication and facilitation: Ability to moderate discussions, mentor peers, and  encourage constructive dialogue. 
  • Inclusivity and safeguarding: Sensitivity to gender, disability, and minority issues;  commitment to safe spaces. 
  • Reliability and accountability: Willingness to commit time consistently and uphold  project values. 
  • Creativity and innovation: Capacity to generate fresh ideas and inspire others  through media outputs.
