JOB DESCRIPTION
| JOB TITLE | Driver (6 Positions) |
| LOCATION | Freetown, Sierra Leone, with regular travel across all districts and programme locations nationwide. |
| REPORTING AND MANAGEMENT | Reports to the Administrative Officer and works closely with Operations, Programme, Finance and Administration teams, service providers and stakeholders as required. |
| JOB SUMMARY | This role sits within the forthcoming Leaders in Teaching (LiT) Sierra Leone programme, a Government of Sierra Leone initiative to be implemented by Lɛ Wi Lan (LWL), in partnership with Transforming Teaching, Education and Learning (T-TEL) and other partners, with funding support from the Mastercard Foundation. LWL is a Sierra Leonean-led organisation committed to advancing education transformation nationally. Its vision is transformed education for development in Sierra Leone, and its mission is to provide educational technical assistance in close partnership with government to promote quality education and inclusive growth. The Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of assigned office vehicles. The role is responsible for vehicle fuel management, vehicle maintenance and repairs, health and safety compliance, adherence to fleet management policies, and providing reliable transport services in support of programme delivery across Sierra Leone. |
| ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (Will include but not be limited to) | 1. Transportation Services • Safely transport staff, consultants, visitors and authorised passengers. • Support programme activities across all districts. • Plan routes and ensure timely travel. 2. Vehicle Fuel Management • Manage assigned vehicle fuel in line with policy. • Maintain accurate fuel records and logs. • Monitor fuel efficiency and report concerns. 3. Vehicle Maintenance and Repairs • Conduct daily vehicle inspections. • Ensure vehicles are clean and roadworthy. • Report faults promptly and coordinate servicing. • Maintain vehicle maintenance records. 4. Health and Safety • Comply with organisational health and safety requirements. • Ensure safe driving practices at all times. • Report accidents, incidents and safety concerns. |
| 5. Fleet Compliance • Comply with fleet management policies and procedures. • Maintain accurate logbooks and journey records. • Support fleet audits and inspections. 6. Other Duties • Undertake any other duties assigned by the Administrative Officer. | |
| CANDIDATE SPECIFICATION | • Ability to read, write and comprehend in English. • Valid Sierra Leone National Driver’s Licence. • Completion of a recognised Defensive Driving Training programme. • Minimum of 8 years driving experience with organisations implementing nationwide programmes. • Demonstrated experience driving across every district in Sierra Leone. • Strong knowledge of traffic laws, road networks and road safety requirements. • Experience managing fuel records, logbooks and vehicle maintenance records. • Professional, reliable and safety conscious. |
