Concern Worldwide has been operational in Sierra Leone since 1996. Concern currently operates in the Districts of Western Area Urban (Freetown), Western Area Rural, Tonkolili, Port Loko, Kambia, Karene and remotely in a number of other Districts..

On  this note, Concern would like to invite well experienced and professional applicants for the under mentioned role:

Contract Details:Fixed Term
Job Purpose:To drive the vehicles in a safe manner, ensuring the safety at all times of passengers, the vehicle and loads for Concern programmes assuring efficient utilization of human, material and financial resources in consistency with Concern’s procedures and policies
Main duties & 

Responsibilities:

  • To drive in a safe manner complying with all Concern regulations and Obeying all Road Traffic Acts.
  • Carry out daily and weekly checks on assigned vehicle.  
  • Always check the vehicle movement notice board to know Programme assigned to before any journey commences and clean the board on arrival back at base.  
  • Keep assigned vehicles free from damage, in acceptable condition, and consistently clean. Employee must ensure that the vehicle is in proper and safe condition prior to use and accept responsibility to report any damage or mechanical malfunctions that exist.

  • Be willing and able to work on call 24hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • Accurately complete the Vehicle Logbook/DDG table for each journey. 
  • Record the number of kilometres covered and also fuel consumption.
  • Report any damage, mechanical faults or mishaps that occur to the vehicle.
  • Ensure that passengers are driven to and from their destination in a safe manner.   
  • Comply fully with Concern procedures on the reporting of accidents involving Concern vehicles.
  • Be responsible for the supervision and/or loading of all cargo, ensuring that loads are secure, transported safely and DO NOT exceed the load capacity.
  • Ensure that the vehicle is always parked safely, especially on overnight and daytime assignments. Stay with vehicle when parked outside Concern office at meetings or in the field.

  • Always keep assigned vehicle clean and tidy.

Other:

  • Be aware of, understand and comply with all of Concern’s policies and procedures (P4, finance, logistics, HR, Security management etc.).  
  • Contribute to ongoing security management and planning as necessary.
  • Actively participate in any emergency response if called upon to do so (within the existing programme area or in a new one).
  • Undertake other related duties as may reasonably be assigned by the Country Director or the line manager. 
Person specification:Essential  

  • Updated Sierra Leone drivers licence (Category B).  
  • Must know how to write and speak English Language.  
  • Must have good eye sight, and physically fit.  

Desirable  

  • Must have driven for an INGO or the UN agencies for at least three years.
