Job Title Finance Assistant Intern 

Grade 4 

Contract: 3 Months 

Location: Freetown

 

Job Profile  

The post-holder will be responsible for supporting CAFOD’s Finance & Admin team  with day-to-day administrative & finance tasks. Specific responsibilities are outlined  below but broadly involve internal system and processes support, information  management and logistics.The position will be full time and based in Freetown in Sierra Leone and will be part and parcel of the JOA programme team. 

Reporting to 

This position reports to the Finance and Admin Manager with task management  provided for by JOA Programme Manager. The post holder will have no line  management responsibility. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Assist the Finance & Admin Manager in raising payments requests and payments vouchers.  • Ensure that all supporting documents submitted for payments are correct and accurate. • Printing, scanning, and filing financial documents as needed and as directed by the line  manager.  
  • Assist the Finance & Admin Manager in coordinating and planning of logistics for field trips,  workshops and meetings as needed. 
  • Completing Webpromise tasks, including raising approvals, and payments to partners and  information management. 
  • Support in budget management, including updating budget vs. actual for JOA Women and  Girls First

  • Review financial reports submitted by JOA implementing partners (KADDRO and Caritas  Kenema) and provide immediate feedback 
  • Ensure that JOA financial reports are submitted on time 
  • Provide technical and financial support to partners’ fianance staff 
  • Carry out visits to partner organisations when delegated by the Finance Manager and at the  request of the Programme Manager, JOA 
  • Actively participate in JOA Programme meetings and gathering inclusing weekly meetings

Job-specific competencies 

  1. Recognised professional with accounting qualification; Minimum BA Degree in Accounting/Business Administration or related field. 
  2. Strong analytical, critical thinking, coordination and writing skills.  

III. Full working knowledge of English. 

Desirable Criteria  

  1. Excellent computer skills, including full working knowledge of standard word  processing and spreadsheet packages.
