Position: Regional Coordinator -Western Region
Duty Station: Freetown
Reports to: National General Secretary/CEO
The Young Men’s Christian Association of Sierra Leone (YMCA-SL), a non-governmental organisation and a youth-focused organisation committed to empowering young people through leadership development, vocational training, advocacy, and community engagement, is seeking to recruit a Regional Coordinator to lead the management team in its Western Region. The Western Regional Secretariat plays a pivotal role in driving YMCA-SL’s mission in Freetown and its environs.
The Regional Coordinator will be the head of the management team of the Western Regional Secretariat and Secretary to the Regional Executive Committee, overseeing the rolling out of its strategies, programme implementation, stakeholder engagement, and operational excellence. This role demands visionary leadership, strong organisational skills, and a deep commitment to youth empowerment and community development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Overseeing daily operations, ensuring efficient and effective program delivery, and achieving strategic objectives.
- Managing staff and volunteers, implementing performance management systems, and fostering a collaborative work environment.
- Developing and implementing National strategic plan, aligning them with the organization’s overall goals, and managing budgets.
- Building relationships with government officials, partners, donors, and other stakeholders to advance the organization’s mission.
- Representing the organization’s interests and advocating for its cause at the regional level.
- Ensuring the quality and effectiveness of programs, monitoring performance, and identifying areas for improvement.
- Identifying and pursuing fundraising opportunities, developing proposals, and managing grants.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and organizational policies, as well as managing risks.
- Developing and implementing training programs to build the capacity of staff and Volunteers
- Support branches and young people with programs and resource Mobilization.
Qualification and Experience required
A bachelor’s degree in social sciences related discipline and must have at least 3 years working experience in senior management level of a Non-Governmental Organization engaged in youth issues and/or social development. Master’s degree in development will be an added advantage
Significant experience in the NGO sector, with a focus on programme and membership development.
- Proven ability to lead and manage teams, develop and implement strategies, and build relationships.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and Report Writing skills.
- Familiarity with Donor-Funding requirements and Resource Mobilization
- Experience in developing and managing budgets, financial reporting, and grant management.
- Ability to work effectively in diverse cultural contexts and with diverse stakeholders.
- Demonstrate initiative, ability to work under minimum supervision
- Proven competence in written and spoken English
- Significant working experience in the NGO Sector with focus on Programme and Membership Development
- Must be computer literate with excellent working knowledge in Ms Word, Excel, Power Point and Access software.
