Position Overview
The Technician support, supports the facilities maintenance activities of both Koidu Government Hospital (KGH) and the Maternal Center of Excellence (MCOE) by assisting in electrical works, generator maintenance, HVAC, plumbing, hardware maintenance, and general maintenance works. Working under the supervision of the Head of Maintenance, the role plays a vital role in ensuring smooth day-to-day functioning of essential hospital facilities. The Technician Support contributes to the maintenance of hospital infrastructure by facilitating the work of technicians, by providing manual support to handling tools & materials, and helping ensure that maintenance tasks are completed efficiently and safely
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 
Duties & Responsibilities. 

  • Assist with basic tasks related to electrical installations, repairs, and upgrades, including cable pulling, conduit work, and light fixture replacement.
  • Support the during generator maintenance with tasks like oil changes, filter replacement, fuel checks, and cleaning of generator rooms.
  • Support HVAC technicians in servicing of split units, VRF systems, and cassettes, including filter cleaning, ducting assistance, and drain line clearing.
  • Support with plumbing works, including pipe installations, leak repairs, water tank cleaning, and septic system inspections.

Perform basic tasks like equipment cleaning, workspace organization, and safety hazard identification.

  • Assist in maintaining and repair of doors, locks, handles, hinges, drawers, cabinets, and window glazing.
  • Provide physical support during installation and removal of equipment, installations, mechanical fixtures, building hardware and accessories within the hospital facility.
  • Help in loading/offloading of materials, transporting tools, equipment, parts, and materials from storage to utility areas within the hospital facility.
  • Maintain cleanliness and order in technical workspaces (e.g., generator rooms, workshops, utility zones).
  • Support the facilities maintenance team with routine inspection around the facility and reporting faults to line supervisors.
  • Work closely with the hospital’s maintenance, operation, and biomedical teams to support infrastructural projects;  
  • Collaborate with external contractors or technicians when necessary; 
  • Use protective equipment and follow occupational health and safety procedures.

Education and Work Experience Requirements: 
Education & Training Requirements .

  • 1–2 years of experience as technical support, maintenance assistant, or maintenance agent roles either in a construction project site or hospitality industry.
  • Having a skill in welding, masonry, tiling, plumbing, carpentry or painting will be an added advantage.
  • Experience working in a hospital facility is an added advantage.
  • Ability to work with hand tools, power tools, and follow technical instructions.
  • Ability to work under supervision and follow instructions carefully.
  • Physical strength & stamina, reliable, and willing to perform manual labor and hands-on tasks.
  • Quick learner with a proactive attitude and strong work ethic.
  • Willingness to support multiple teams across various maintenance disciplines.
  • Team player, respectful, and professional in a healthcare environment.
  • Basic understanding of workplace safety and proper tool use.
