Job Description

 

The Ro-Seleneh Orphanage is home to some 45 disabled children and young adults ranging from around 6 years through to late 20s. Some are physically disabled, some mentally, and some both. Physical disabilities are mainly a result of polio or cerebral palsy; other conditions include epilepsy, autism, hydrocephalus, microcephaly, and incontinence.

 

ACTB Foundation is seeking to hire a Wellbeing and Support Officer for The Ro-Seleneh Orphanage at Rogbere. The role providing home oversight and co-ordination will include the following responsibilities:

 

  • Coordination of external NGO visits and implementation of recommendations in the home specifically related to the children/young adults 
  • Facilitate daily activities (such as playgroup, and cognitive activities) for the children/young adults 
  • Monthly reporting on issues and progress specific to the children/young adults
  • Oversight and coordination of children/young adults’ medication and care
  • Implementing physical/occupational rehabilitation programs
  • Monitoring the upkeep of wheelchairs, equipment, and furniture
  • Ensuring cleanliness of the home and highlighting any fixes needing to be made
  • Flexibility to provide support to children/young adults in schools on-site
  • Desirable for candidates to have qualifications in Social Work,  Early Childhood Care, and Education, Community Development Studies

 

Qualifications

  • Desirable for candidates to have qualifications in Social Work,  Early Childhood Care, and Education, Community Development Studies and practical experience in delivering social care.
