REHABILITATION AND DEVELOPMENT AGENCY IN SIERRA LEONE (RADA-SL)

JOB DISCRIPTION FOR FIELD OFFICER

 

Field Officer – RADA GD-BMZ Kush Project

Location: Bo District, Sierra Leone

Project Coverage: Assigned Communities within 20 Target Communities

Reports to: Project Officer

Job Purpose

The Field Officer will support direct implementation of project activities at community level. The role focuses on community mobilization, awareness creation, data collection, and supporting individuals and families affected by Kush use.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Community Mobilization & Awareness
  • Conduct community sensitization sessions on the dangers of Kush use.
  • Facilitate community dialogues, youth forums, and school outreach sessions.
  • Work closely with local leaders and volunteers to organize outreach events.
  • Distribute IEC (Information, Education, Communication) materials.
  1. Identification & Referral
  • Identify individuals affected by Kush use and link them to appropriate health or social services.
  • Support community-based referral pathways.
  • Follow up on referred cases where appropriate.
  1. Data Collection & Reporting
  • Collect accurate field data using approved tools.
  • Maintain beneficiary records and activity attendance sheets, etc.
  • Submit weekly and monthly reports to the Project Officer.
  1. Community Engagement
  • Maintain regular presence in assigned communities.
  • Build strong relationships with youth groups, women’s groups, and community leaders.
  • Support the establishment or strengthening of community watch or support groups.
  1. Support Monitoring Activities
  • Participate in surveys, assessments, and monitoring visits.
  • Provide feedback from the field to improve project implementation.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Community Development, Public Health, or related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in community-based work.
  • Experience working with youth, vulnerable groups, or substance abuse programs preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to ride a motorbike (valid license preferred).
  • Fluency in English and local languages (Krio, Mende) preferred.
