Applications are invited from suitably qualified Sierra Leoneans to fill the position of Project Assistant for ACHAP Lifeline Project at the Christian Health Association Sierra Leone (CHASL)
Job purpose and basic responsibilities
The Project Assistant will provide operational, technical, and administrative support for the implementation of the “Sustaining Integrated TB/HIV and PMTCT Services through Community and Faith-Based Systems in Sierra Leone” project. The role will support coordination of facility and community-level activities, data management, logistics, and reporting to ensure timely and quality delivery of project outputs, particularly in PMTCT, Early Infant Diagnosis (EiD), TB/HIV integration, and community outreach.
The position is designed to strengthen implementation efficiency, data quality, and field coordination across CHASL-supported health facilities and community structures.
Project Implementation and Coordination
- Support day-to-day implementation of project activities across supported facilities and communities.
- Coordinate training sessions for healthcare workers (HCWs) on PMTCT, EiD, TB, and DBS sample collection.
- Assist in organizing integrated TB/HIV outreach services, community awareness campaigns, and peer learning meetings.
- Liaise with CHASL member facilities, District Health Management Teams (DHMTs), and community stakeholders to ensure smooth activity execution.
- Track implementation of planned activities against workplans and timelines.
Community and Facility Support
- Support community-based identification and referral of HIV-exposed infants and TB/HIV contacts.
- Assist in strengthening follow-up systems for defaulters and linkage to care.
- Provide coordination support for CHWs engaged in TB/HIV screening, contact tracing, and referral.
- Facilitate logistics for outreach activities targeting high-risk and underserved populations.
Monitoring, Evaluation, and Data Management
- Support collection, verification, and compilation of routine project data from facilities and CHWs.
- Maintain updated records of key indicators including:
- PMTCT uptake
- Early Infant Diagnosis (EiD) coverage
- TB/HIV contact tracing and referrals
- Outreach performance metrics
- Assist in tracking performance against project indicators and targets.
- Support data entry, validation, and reporting aligned with DHIS2 and project M&E frameworks.
- Participate in data review meetings and support development of facility-level action plans.
Logistics and Administrative Support
- Coordinate logistics for trainings, meetings, and outreach activities (venue, materials, transport, participant coordination).
- Support procurement and distribution tracking of project commodities (e.g., test kits, DBS materials).
- Maintain proper documentation of project activities, attendance registers, and reports.
- Ensure compliance with CHASL administrative and financial procedures.
Reporting and Documentation
- Assist in preparation of weekly, monthly, and quarterly project reports.
- Document success stories, lessons learned, and field-level challenges.
- Support preparation of donor reports and presentations.
- Maintain organized project files and documentation for audit and review purposes.
Stakeholder Engagement and Communication
- Support coordination with Ministry of Health, CHASL member facilities, and implementing partners.
- Facilitate communication between project teams, community actors, and technical leads.
- Represent CHASL in field-level coordination meetings where required.
Other Responsibilities
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Program Manager in support of project implementation.
- Ensure adherence to CHASL policies, safeguarding standards, and donor compliance requirements.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Nursing, Social Sciences, or a related field.
- At least 2–3 years of experience in health program implementation, preferably in TB, HIV, or RMNCAH programs.
- Experience working with community health systems and/or CHWs is an added advantage.
- Familiarity with DHIS2, health facility reporting systems, and basic M&E concepts.
