About This role
The Finance officer will work closely with the Finance and Programs Departments of the Country Office to ensure smooth implementation of the project. He/She will be responsible for the application of donor financial requirements and ChildFund’s financial procedures and the effective and transparent use of financial resources in accordance with established provisions for proper project management. He/She will ensure financial information is properly and regularly recorded/documented and shared with the relevant parties.
Required Experience & Education
- Minimum 3 years of work experience in accounting or finance and experience in international accounting and financial standards;
- Rich knowledge in project financial management procedures
- Ability to communicate effectively,
- Creative mindset and ability to work on your own initiative, meet deadlines and work on complex projects with multicultural teams
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Bonne mastery of accounting systems
- Planning skills, analytical, synthesis and writing skills
- Strong ability to learn, innovate and work with minimal supervision
- Very good ability to manage interpersonal relationships and collaborate effectively with other organizations, establish and maintain good working relationships in a multicultural environment
- Very good ability to work effectively under stress and know how to distinguish in compliance with deadlines
- Able to travel frequently in the areas of intervention of ChildFund Gambia
- Knowledge of spreadsheets and budgeting
- Education
Degree in Finance Management, Economics, Accounting or equivalent
Primary Responsibilities
- Work with Budget Holder(s) and grants and resource mobilization personnel to ensure implementation of all donor compliance requirements
- Ensure neat fiscal planning and prepare any budget revisions and projections.
- Ensures proper and timely processing of requests for funds from project Staff
- Ensure timely submission of liquidations by project staff and financial reports are submitted to the donors on time and with quality
- Prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
- Actively participates in grant start-up workshops to prepare detailed budget forecasts.
- Conducts monitoring visits to project intervention areas to ensure that all financial transactions are in accordance with the donor and ChildFund’s financial regulations
- Maintain an up-to-date list of donor regulations that ensure compliance
- Prepares documents for audit and donor monitoring visits and maintains key copies of finance records.
- Participate in monthly BVA discussion for appropriate budget tracking
- Safeguarding all financial instruments
- Supports program close out from both the financial and programmatic side.
- Any other task assigned by his supervisor to support the financial management of the project and enhance the productivity of the Finance Department.
