As poverty continues to be complex and dynamic, ActionAid Sierra Leone commences its new Country Strategic Paper in 2024 which focuses on three (3) Programme Priorities: Inclusive and Empowering Education to foster diverse opportunities, inclusive and participatory governance for sustainable development, and Climate Resilience and Sustainable Livelihood. In Sierra Leone, ActionAid works with poor communities and local partners in the Western Area, Kambia, Bombali, Tonkolili, Kono, Bo, and Moyamba called Local Rights Programmes (LRPs).
About the project
ActionAid Sierra Leone is implementing an Imagine Worldwide funded project titled “tablet learning in 19 schools in Karene District”. To effectively implement this project, ActionAid Sierra Leone (AASL) is looking for qualified, experienced, and self-motivated persons to fill the following positions:

Reports to: Project Manager
Supervises: No One
Location: Karene with travel to the field as required
Job Reference No: PO/IW/INT.EXT/2024/07/04
Duration: 6 months
Job Purpose: The Project Officer is a junior level management position. The Project Officer implement the activities of the Imagine Worldwide funded Project, “tablet learning in 19 schools in Karene District” ensuring that policies and other commitments signed up to are fully complied to.
Main/Specific Responsibilities:
- Implement all activities under the tablet learning project in Karene district in accordance with AASL and Imagine Worldwide polices under the guidance of the Project Manager
- Visit each school 3-4 times a week to monitor implementation, collect monitoring data and provide support as needed.
- Develop actionable work plans to ensure the timely implementation of project activities in collaboration with the stakeholders.
- The Project Officer is the Liaison officer between the beneficiaries of the Project and other networks in relation to the Project.
- Ensures everything is in place for the smooth running of the Project
- Ensures proper documentation and accounting system
- Establish a regular system of work, i.e. work plan and monitoring plan for project activities
- Work with stakeholders to identify, analyse and prioritise their challenges, and develop strategies for the project activities
- Maintaining and developing reporting using AASL/Donor reporting tools on field activities
- Fostering good relationship amongst stakeholders
- Carry out other activities as may be assigned from time to time by the Project Manager and Regional Manager
Person Specifications:
- Minimum academic qualification Diploma and 2 years field experience, young graduate who are interested in field work are also encouraged to apply.
- Must be a computer literate with knowledge of using tablets and a valid driver’s license with motor bike riding skills.
- Good understanding of education and children’s rights programming and a demonstrated commitment to promoting inclusive education and accountability to communities, with a strong commitment to the project
- Be prepared to work unsupervised and develop strong interpersonal relationships with school and Local Authorities, and the donor
- Knowledge of Participatory Approaches to development
- Ability and willingness to learn and ride a bike.
