THE WEST AFRICAN EXAMINATIONS COUNCIL

VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC), a sub-regional organisation responsible for the conduct of a variety of examinations in the English-speaking West African Countries, invites applications from suitably qualified Sierra Leoneans to fill the following vacant positions at its Sierra Leone National Office.

POSITIONS

  • ASSISTANT REGISTRAR II

SUBJECT AREAS:

  • ACCOUNTING
  • RELIGIOUS EDUCATION
  • BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

Successful applicants will be assigned duties in the Test Development or Test Administration Division and will be required to perform the following duties among others:

  • Develop papers for examinations conducted by the Council in Sierra Leone.
  • Assist in the conduct of all examinations conducted by the Council.
  • Recruit examiners for the Council’s examinations.
  • Organize and supervise Coordination and Moderation Meetings.
  • Assist in marking exercises of examinations.
  • Conduct Subject Award Meetings.
  • Handle issues that may arise from both the arrangements and conduct of the Council’s examinations.
  • Supervise and manage subordinate staff.
  • Assist in formulating and implementing policies and programmes relating to assigned division.
  • Perform any other duties which may be assigned.

 

Eligibility Criteria

Academic Qualification

Applicant should possess

  • First Degree from a recognized University (Minimum, Second Class Lower) in the relevant discipline. Master’s degree in Educational Measurement and Evaluation will be an added advantage.

AND

(B) A minimum of WASSCE/GCE “O” Level Examination Certificate or their

equivalents with credits in five subjects including English Language and

Mathematics, at ONE (1) sitting.

 

OR

WASSCE/GCE “O” Level Examination Certificate with credits in six subjects,     including English Language and Mathematics, at not more than TWO (2) sittings.

 

Experience

Applicants must have at least three (3) years relevant post-qualification teaching   experience in a reputable institution.
