DURATION: 1 year

LOCATION: Freetown, Sierra Leone (note that Project HOPE will not be covering relocation expenses)

POSITION TITLE: Driver

DIVISION: Global Health

REPORTS TO: Admin Assistant

POSITION SUMMARY: 

We are seeking a reliable and professional Driver to join our team at Project HOPE. Under the supervision of the administrative assistant, the ideal candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient handling of the organization’s daily transportation needs. This role requires strong driving skills, a commitment to punctuality, and a dedication to upholding the values and mission of Project HOPE. The driver will report to the Administrative Assistant.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that Project HOPE driving policy is followed and always respected.
  • Serves as both a local and long-distance driver of Project HOPE vehicles.
  • Drive safely, showing proper respect to Sierra Leone motor-vehicle laws, pedestrians, other drivers, Sierra Leone police, check point guards and other officers
  • Use the safety seat belt and always follow all traffic laws while driving
  • Liaison with Mechanic and operations (Fleet) department to mechanically maintained assigned vehicle
  • Maintain the vehicle in good working condition. 
  • Carry out routine maintenance repairs and inform the operations department whenever repairs and maintenance work are required (per Project HOPE vehicle policy).
  • Maintaining Project HOPE records and logs of mileage and fuel used by vehicles.
  • Ensure the vehicle is clean and mechanically sound.
  • Ensure that vehicle is fueled before going home at the end of the day and as well ensure that the vehicle is always cleaned.
  • Immediately report to the Finance and Operations Manager in case of an accident by written report. Police report is required within 48 hours.
  • Ensure that all Project HOPE security rules and procedures are always respected and work effectively with Program Staff and ably represent the Program during distribution of supplies etc. when required.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum High School Graduate (WASSCE)
  • Valid and current Driving License
  • Minimum of Three Years of professional driving Experience with an INGO preferred
  • Knowledge of general vehicle maintenance
  • Who can hear, speak, see clearly and write English.
