About Teach for Sierra Leone

Teach For Sierra Leone is a not-for-profit results-oriented leadership development and social advocacy organisation that recruits, trains, places and supports Sierra Leone’s most promising leaders from diverse academic backgrounds and career interests to commit to teach in Sierra Leone’s high-need pre and primary schools in underserved rural communities. We aspire to improve Foundational Literacy and Numeracy while building students as leaders for a better future for themselves, their communities and for us all.

We have a two-pronged approach to actualizing our vision. These include a short-term approach of recruiting, training, placing and supporting young and promising leaders to teach, lead and impact school communities. Our long-term approach involves our Alumni Impact Program involving leaders who have successfully completed the two-year fellowship and made a lifelong commitment to championing all forms of injustices. There is also our National Buddying System that aims to train, coach and mentor existing system teachers to foster better performance and sustainability.

Over the last five years, we have built a proven track record of driving change – improving learning outcomes, developing future leaders, and empowering communities to tackle climate challenges and social injustices. Teach For Sierra Leone believes that every child in Sierra Leone deserves an excellent and empowering education. Our mission is to build a movement of diverse and capable leaders who will work to end educational inequity in Sierra Leone and globally. Through this exposure, our fellows develop their leadership acumen and gain first-hand understanding of the education system in Sierra Leone, the challenges it faces, and collaboratively work to address them.

Upon completion of the two-year fellowship, fellows transition to Alumnihood and become a part of a global network of over 70,000 leaders across 60+ countries. This network provides unparalleled access to global, regional, and national opportunities in education, policy, business, and social innovation.

We are now seeking for the most promising graduates and young professionals who will make a life-long commitment to ending educational injustices by joining our 7th Cohort of fellows 2026.

As a Fellow, you will receive intensive training and coaching to maximize your impact. You will lead in the classroom, advocate for women and girls, and support climate-resilient communities. After two years, you will join a global alumni network of over 70,000 leaders, and gain access to unparalleled opportunities across the world.

This is your chance to do more than just teach. It is a chance to lead, advocate, and build a better future for Sierra Leone while developing your leadership acumen.
