International Non-governmental organization, Action Against Hunger has been working to fight undernutrition and support communities affected by crisis across the globe for almost 40 years and across nearly 50 countries. Action Against Hunger established its presence in both Liberia and Sierra Leone in 1991 during the Civil War and since then has been operational in the two countries by implementing various humanitarian and development programs related to health, nutrition, food security/livelihoods and advocacy geared towards the reduction of the prevalence rates of under-nutrition in both countries. The Sierra Leone Coordination office is based in Freetown, Sierra Leone overseeing the operations in Bonthe and Moyamba.

Action Against Hunger is recruiting a suitably qualified Sierra Leonean as Logistics Assistant to support the Senior Logistics Officer to ensure logistics procedures in Moyamba/Bonthe are respected and best possible support to the programs throughout Moyamba/Bonthe district and its environs

KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Plan and organize the movement of the base and inter-base movement
  • Ensure that the movement board is updated
  • Ensure the Log Book are properly filled by drivers at all times
  • Ensure that maintenance and service schedules are in place and respected in Moyamba base
  • Carry out random checks on the fleet to verify mechanical condition and proper usage of the Log Book
  • Monitor fuel intake of generators, and ensure their timely maintenance 
  • station and fuel stock levels at office and notify the Senior Logistics Officer when the minimum stock levels have been met
  • Make sure that the security rules are respected, with special emphasis on usage of safety belt, respect of speed limit by drivers and riders in Moyamba/Bonthe base/sub Offices
  • Manage the guards and ensure compliance to Action Against Hunger guidelines
  • Support the Senior Logistics Officer in procurement activities by issuing RFQ and collecting quotations
  • Provide support in archiving and processing procurement documents for payment
  • Ensure that warehouses in the Base/Field Offices comply with Action Against Hunger standards in terms of procedure, facility management and security
  • Ensure that stock cards and reported are updated
  • Receive and dispatch items to and from the warehouse
  • Conduct period stock counts
  • Monitor, review and update weekly fuel consumption and report for Moyamba base
  • Perform other duties as and when necessary

  • Contribute to ongoing security management and planning as necessary.
  • Actively participate in any emergency response if called upon to do so (within the existing programme area or in a new one).
  • Undertake other related duties as may reasonably be assigned by the MEAL Manager, Field Manager, Health and Nutrition Program Manager, Food Security and Livelihood Manager.
  • Ensure timely filling and submission of ACF timesheets

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor or Diploma in Logistics, Procurement and Supply Chain Management
  • Minimum of 2- 3 years relevant experience in NGO Logistics operations

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Excellent time management, 
  • communication and customer handling skills
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Able to work under pressure and to meet tight deadlines. 
  • Good computer skills, including Microsoft office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

WORK CONDITIONS

STARTING DATE: February 2024

MONTHLY BASIC SALARY: 2,978.67SLE

HOUSING AND TRANSPORT ALLOWANCE: 15% of basic salary each

DURATION OF CONTRACT: Nine (9) Months, with possible  extension

LOCATION: Mattru Jong – Bonthe, with possible travels to Moyamba, Freetown and other field areas
