Doctors with Africa CUAMM is an international NGO working in the health sector to improve access to quality primary and secondary healthcare, with specific attention to maternal and child health, nutrition, and the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of communicable and non-communicable diseases. CUAMM has been operating in Sierra Leone since 2012, supporting access to health services through close collaboration with local health authorities and partners.

Reporting to: Project Manager and CUAMM National M&E Coordinator
Contract type: Fixed-term contract (12 months), with 4-months’ probation period
JOB SUMMARY:
The M&E Assistant will support the collection, verification, and basic analysis of project data to ensure accurate and timely reporting in line with project requirements and national health information systems. The role will assist health facilities and community-level structures in improving data recording practices and will contribute to routine monitoring, documentation, and reporting of project activities.
Monitoring and Data Support:
- Support the design and implementation of existing M&E tools and data collection systems, ensuring harmonization with national and project indicators.
- Collect, validate and analyze data from health facilities and community outreach activities on a routine basis. ensure completeness, consistency and accuracy.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting of project outputs and outcomes to the project manager and relevant stakeholders.
- Maintain and regularly update project databases, dashboards and indicator tracking tables; provide periodic data summaries to support operational decisions.
- Assist in the preparation of project reports, summaries, and documentation of field activities
- Support periodic surveys/assessments, evaluations, baseline/endline studies and learning exercises when required.
- Provide routine coaching to PHU staff, CHW on registers/tools, reporting flows, and use of data for action.
- Participate in key project activities (e.g. trainings, cooking demonstrations, awareness events and supportive supervision) to collect monitoring data and document observations on participation and immediate outcomes.
- Conduct qualitative monitoring through structured observations, brief interview and feedback from participants and facilitators, to complement routine quantitative indicators.
- Establish and maintain feedback mechanisms (e.g., short post-activity feedback forms, suggestion box/feedback log, periodic debriefs with PHU staff/CHW focal points and Lead Mothers) to capture concerns, lessons learned and recommendations.
Coordination and Collaboration:
- Participate in coordination meetings with CUAMM, DHMT and health facility management, contributing with updated data and key findings – As requested by the Project Manager.
- Support joint supportive supervision visits and joint data collection with DHMT
- Collaborate with other project staff in planning, monitoring and documentation of activities; promote knowledge-sharing and documentation of best practices.
- Represent the project in relevant district-level M&E coordination platforms/ working groups, as needed.
- Flag implementation challenges that may affect results (data gaps, reporting delays, tool issues) and propose practical solutions to the Project Manager
Requirements:
- Degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Statistics, Health Information Management, Social Sciences or related field.
- Proven experience (minimum 3 years) in Similar roles in health programmes (NGO/INGO experience is an advantage).
- Strong data management and reporting skills: Excel required; experience with Kobo and DHIS2 is a strong advantage.
- Strong communication and facilitation skills also with government counterparts.
- Willingness to work in rural settings and travel frequently within the district.
- Motorbike license
Desirable Skills:
- Strong organizational skills and ability to effectively handle multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines.
- Previous experience in nutrition projects
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, partner agencies, key contacts in the government, and CSO.
- Knowledge of the implementation area is an asset.
