Purpose of the Role:

The Mentorship & Placement Officer will play a critical role in the reintegration of migrant Returnees by supporting them to secure employment post-training, ensuring that they can utilize skills gained in a productive way.

 

The Mentorship & Placement Officer will work directly with Returnees providing psychological support as they go through the technical skills training program, coaching and counseling them as they undertake activities that support the building of skills and connections needed for their successful reintegration, and facilitating their placement into apprenticeship, internship, or employment.

 

Key Areas of Accountability

  1. Source, identify, and gain suitable work placement opportunities for Returnees, including working with Returnees to make excellent connections with potential employers for sustainable employment or other opportunities aligned with their goals.
  2. Facilitate Returnees’ access to a network of professionals and organizations who can provide apprenticeship and internship opportunities. 

 

  1. Assist in developing placement strategies for each Returnee.
  2. Be fully accountable for the successful implementation of the Returnees’ placement strategy, ensuring all outputs are delivered effectively, on time, and as planned.
  3. Working directly with Returnees, daily, in the execution of the agreed plan, helping them navigate challenges.
  4. Train and coach Returnees on soft skills relevant to their trade.
  5. Act as the primary contact for Returnees and potential employers. 
  6. Collaborate with team members and other internal stakeholders to provide robust and detailed reporting to partners.
  7. Undertake any other duties in support of the reintegration of Migrant Returnees.

 

Experience and Skills

  • Candidate must possess strong problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders. 
  • The ability to work in a small team as well as independently with little supervision.
  • Demonstrable experience in the administration of projects in employment, education/training, health, mentoring, or any related discipline.
  • Experience in developing and delivering training, recruitment & placement, or working with youth will be advantageous.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with people from a variety of backgrounds and experiences
  • Ability to plan, prioritise, and organize own workload, including working to tight deadlines. 
  • Ability to respond quickly and flexibly to different needs of partners & team members

 

Education

  • A University Degree 
  • Tertiary Training in relevant fields will be advantageous
