JOB TITLE: Digital Media Producer 

LOCATION: Freetown 

REPORTS TO: Training and Production Manager  

DURATION: 12 Months (with the possibility of extension)

Who we’re looking for 

We’re looking for a highly creative person who combines strong digital content creation  with editorial skills. The ideal candidate must demonstrate strong creative ability with a  proven record of delivering exciting and engaging multimedia content. They must have  experience turning ideas into engaging content; ability to exercise strong editorial  judgement while remaining excitingly creative. The digital media producer must have strong  technical skills and is able to work with digital content creation tools, software and  platforms. We are looking for competencies in editorial judgement, creative thinking,  managing relationships, planning and organizing.  

Job Purpose 

The role will be an integral part of our production team, involved in setting up a digital  community of young people and producing engaging content for social media platforms.  With line-management from the production and training manager, the producer will work  with teams across the project to ensure that digital outputs are impactful and meet project  goals, as well as BBC editorial guidelines.  

Responsibilities 

Work with the team to provide end-to-end support to a new digital community of young people.  This will involve planning, creative design and creation, moderating discussions in the digital  community and encourage participation. 

Providing technical support to hubs located in three universities. This will include training in  content creation and social media management.  

Lead digital content production, community stories, mini documentaries production  schedules and meet high technical and editorial quality standards; support youth teams  with script development, field recording, editing, and final packaging of content;  

Lead the management of BBC Media Action Sierra Leone’s social media platforms (Facebook,  Instagram, YouTube, X/Twitter, and emerging channels). 

Develop and implement strategies to grow audiences, strengthen communities, and deepen  engagement. 

Build relationships with influencers, community leaders, and digital networks to amplify reach and  impact. 

Ensure all content reflects BBC Media Action’s values of diversity, inclusion, equity, and gender  equality. 

Monitor analytics and audience feedback to refine strategies and respond to emerging trends.
