NATIONAL SOCIAL SECURITY AND INSURANCE TRUST

VACANCY:

The National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NASSIT) was established to administer a social security scheme that provides financial security In Old age, Invalidity, and Death to all employees in Sierra Leone

With the increase In Its Investment and other commercial activities, the Board of Trustees Wish to appoint a staff at the Executive Category to assist the Board of Trustees and Director General In proffering Legal Advice to the Board of Trustees and Management on all the operations of the Trust General Person Specification

We are looking for a Lawyer With a strong professional background In Corporate and Commercial Law who IS prepared to work under tight schedules and capable of handling large number of research work

Additionally, an understanding of the principle of Social Security and International Conventions relating thereto would be an asset

NATURE OF EMPLOYMENT : PERMANENT

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

As Solicitor Secretary you are responsible for the following:

  • Legal Counseling of Management and Board of Trustees on all matters relating to the Trust – Preparation of Legal documents for and on behalf of the Trust
  • Act as Prosecuting or Defense Counsel of the Trust either singularly or severally With appointed external solicitors
  • Vetting of all legal documents presented to and concerning the Trust
  • Proffers opinion on the legality of any Investment to be undertaken by the Trust – Maintaining statutory records of the Trust
  • Ensuring that all formal returns required under the Act and any other law are maintained
  • Ensuring that Annual Reports and Accounts and General Reports are filed
  • Ensuring the custody and use of the Common Seal In countersigning every instrument to which the Seal IS affixed
  • Perform Company Secretarial duties pertaining to a Board meeting and related matters b Management Committee and other related meetings

Such other duties that may be assigned to him from time to time by the Director General and/or the Board

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE;

A Masters Degree In Law

The Candidate must be entitled to practice as a Barrister-at-Law and Solicitor of the High Court of Sierra Leone With at least five (5) years relevant experience.
