General Description of GOAL’s Work in Sierra Leone
GOAL has been present in Sierra Leone since 1999, with an overall aim to contribute to poverty and vulnerability reduction through the implementation of integrated, multi-sectoral interventions, with a primary focus on improving Reproductive, Maternal, Neonatal, Child and Adolescent health (RMNCAH) specifically addressing teenage pregnancy. GOAL is also improving rural water supply, urban WASH focusing on faecal sludge management and promoting social inclusion, empowerment, and the promotion of decent work through systems-based programme approaches and community led social and behavioral change. GOAL currently operates in Western Area Urban (Freetown), Kambia, Bombali, Koinadugu, Moyamba and Kenema Districts, with funding from Irish Aid, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the European Union, Charity: Water and DFID.
The four programming areas that GOAL Global concentrates on are People Survive Crisis, People Have Resilient Health, People Have Food and Nutrition Security, and People Have Sustainable Livelihoods. Both contexts of protracted crises and long-term development involve these actions.
As an organization that focuses on achieving its strategic objectives, GOAL incorporates an internship program that provides individuals with an opportunity to grow professionally, identify personal strengths and weaknesses, apply learned theory to practical situations, and gain an appreciation of the role, duties, and responsibilities of the work that they have chosen as a career.
On this note, GOAL Sierra Leone would like to invite well experienced and professional applicants for the undermentioned new position:

OVERVIEW
The Communication Intern will support the Communication Officer and play a critical role in collecting material and developing and implementing traditional and innovative communications campaigns to project GOAL Sierra Leone’s (SL) voice and profile our vision and program of work.
The ideal candidate will be a media and digital enthusiast, with exceptional writing skills and some graphic design and photography skills and will have a strong interest in developing a career in communications.
GOAL Sierra Leone is seeking an enthusiastic and career focused communication intern to assist GOAL’s Communication Officer in Sierra Leone with the following:
- Assist in gathering impact stories
- Assist in monitoring key mainstream and new media channels reporting on relevant news articles and mentions. 3. Assist in developing regular content for the GOAL Sierra Leone newsletter.
- Supporting in media coordination for conferences and events.
- Assist in taking photographs and videos, including interviews, during events and project visits.
Requirements
The person must possess the following:
➢ Be enrolled or a recent graduate in university studying Mass Communication, Journalism or Public Relations.
➢ Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
➢ Proficient use of Microsoft Office packages
➢ Strong interpersonal communication skills
➢ A Skill in adobe packages could be an advantage.
GOAL and GOAL workers must adhere to the values and principles outlined in GOAL code of conduct. The staff must also adhere to the following GOAL Policies: Child Protection Anti- fraud, Anti- bribery, Conflict of interest, Protection against sexual exploitation and abuse (PSEA) and whistle blowing policies.
Safeguarding
Children and vulnerable adults who come into contact with GOAL as a result of our activities must be safeguarded to the maximum possible extent from deliberate or inadvertent actions and failings that place them at risk of abuse, sexual exploitation, injury and any other harm. One of the ways that GOAL shows this on-going commitment to safeguarding is to include rigorous background and reference checks in the selection process for all candidates.
