ASA International strongly believes that sustainable and profitable business models can be created when focusing on the very poor and can be in challenging operating environments. In doing so, ASAI is replicating the most cost- effective and scalable model developed in ASA Bangladesh for its sustainability. ASA Sierra Leone has already established 46 branches and has a plan to open 55 branches in the coming years to serve at least 55,000 poor families. For better management of its business and to achieve its goal, ASA Microfinance (SL) Ltd. is seeking applications from suitable Sierra Leoneans for the position below:
Position: Accounts & Finance Manager
Location: Freetown, Sierra Leone
ACCOUNTS & FINANCE MANAGER POSITION
The Accounts & Finance Manager will help the Chief Finance Officer (CFO) with a range of administrative and Finance tasks. This may involve assisting with processing bills/invoices, preparing financial statement, preparing budgets, managing cash flow, submitting requested reports to ASAI headquarter, getting information from colleagues regarding purchase orders and preparing statutory reports for various stakeholders.
ACCOUNTS & FINANCE MANAGER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILIES
The Accounts & Finance Managers‘ duties and responsibilities typically involve but not limited to:
Managing Cash Flow
The Accounts & Finance Manager assists to manage the cash flow and supervise financial transactions within the company to ensure there are no discrepancies in reports.
➤ Maintaining Audit Spreadsheets
Maintaining audit spreadsheets is a key part of this role- Accounts & Finance Manager interacts regularly with other staff and heads of departments to ensure spreadsheets/audit issues are up to date each month and at year–end, as well as reporting on the financial profit and loss incurred on a monthly or yearly basis. Updating Finance for Purchase Requests
The Accounts & Finance Manager helps CFO and other Managers to contact people within the company to update records for financial request for purchase orders, making sure all documents are accurate. Assist with Strategic Plans
Regularly, the Accounts & Finance Manager with CFO meets with the senior management and the operations team to develop strategic plans and to brainstorm ways of reducing spending and increasing profits: Obtaining Financial Data from Teams
The Accounts & Finance Manager works with teams in the company to obtain financial data, such as the expenses incurred throughout the month, so that records can be updated for accurate auditing at half yearly and the end of the year.
Maintaining Reconciliations :
There are various movements of fund between Head office and banks, and between Head office and various branches. To monitor the accuracy of the movement of these funds, the Accounts & Finance Manager will assist in maintaining the different reconciliations such as fund transfer reconciliation, bank reconciliation and cash reconciliation.
Preparing Training Needs of Staff
Financial records are being processed both by Head office and branch staff. There are circumstances where there are challenges for some staff to accurately processed these financial data. The Account & Finance Manager will assist to develop a training program to enhance staff efficiency in financial record processing.
ACCOUNTS & FINANCE MANAGER SKILLS
In addition to the above qualification, the Accounts & Finance Manager should demonstrate the following abilities:
Analytical skills- To identify trends in data, spot inaccuracies, and make recommendations for corrections. Organization- Good organization skills and prioritization ensure that tasks are completed on time and files can be found easily for reference and audit purposes.
Computer Skills- To use Microsoft Office applications, database software, and accounting programs to quickly produce the required reports.
Integrity- Entrusted with the company’s finances and confidential financial data, the Accounts and Finance Manager is expected to display integrity and confidentiality.
Communication Skills- Working with colleagues, regulators, and auditors regularly, the Accounts and finance Manager should have clear communications with a friendly disposition and a professional demeanor. Self–motivation- Ability to work with colleague staff in the finance unit and across other units productively and in harmony.

ACCOUNTS & FINANCE MANAGER QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
The Accounts and Finance Manager must have a minimum qualification of a bachelor’s degree in accountancy, statistics, economics, mathematics, management, or business from a recognized university. In addition to the degree, the person should have sound knowledge of microfinance operations with a minimum experience of three (3) years in the microfinance industry.
Additional Requirements:
Excellent communication skills in English and Krio
Two well–off guarantors (one from family members and one from a civil servant)
Police clearance
Be a legal citizen of Sierra Leone
Be between 25 to 35 years of age.
Be willing to work anywhere in Sierra Leone
Self–motivated
Good problem–solving skills
Salary: Negotiable
