World Vision International Sierra Leone (WVISL) has been operational since 1996 assisting communities with various interventions in health, education, child protection, water & sanitation and livelihoods.

 

Applications are requested for suitably qualified Sierra Leoneans to fill the position of “Project Officer Education” (Kamubafo AP)

 

PURPOSE

To facilitate Education and Life Skills development activities at the Area Programme level through community, teachers, children and other partner’s capacity building, networking, partnership and participation in Education and Life Skills planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
Observe mission and core values of World Vision and demonstrate a quality of spiritual life that is an example to others.

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Carry out needs assessment and reviews in communities to determine development interventions that are required.             
  • Coordinate the preparation of Education plan and budget within the Cluster.   
  • Ensure availability of qualitative and quantitative Education and information for input into Horizon and CWBT report.     
  • Build Capacity of Development Facilitators, volunteers, communities, Church and Government partners and other partners in Education and Life Skills issues.  
  • Participate to children (including RC and the most vulnerable) mapping and monitoring processes in communities to ensure participation of children (including RC and the most vulnerable) and their families in Area Programme (APs) activities.       
  • Facilitate communication between RC and their sponsors and ensure that Sponsorship Key Performance indicators are met in the different APs forming the Cluster.                  
  • Participate to RC registering, monitoring and data processing for marketing.    
  • Ensure implementation of Audit and Risk Assessment recommendations in Education and Life Skills projects and their impact areas within the Cluster.      
  • Facilitate and report (monthly, quarterly, semi-annually and annually) on Education activities, outputs and outcomes in APs communities.           
  • Ensure representation of WV Area Programme office and at Provincial events related to Education & Life Skills where World Vision is invited and report on them to the Area Programmes Manager.

  • Must be a committed Christian, able to stand above denominational diversities.
  • Attend and participate/lead in daily devotions and weekly Chapel services.
  • Perform other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:  EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE/TECHNICAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

 

KNOWLEDGE/QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE ROLE

 

Required Education, training, license, registration, and certification  

          

The following may be acquired through a combination of formal or self-education, prior experience or on-the-job training:

  • Educational level required:   BA /BSC Degree in Education, Post graduate diploma in Education,3 Development studies /planning, Social Science disciplines or related field.
  • Technical Training qualifications required:  Professional technical skill desired (certification?)
  • Experience: 3 years in development facilitation.        

Working Environment / Conditions:

  • Work environment:  Office-based with frequent travel to the field
  • Travel:  10% Domestic/international travel is required.
  • On call:  5%
