Product Manager for Careers SL
Overview of the Role
The Product Manager will lead all aspects of business and product development and implement strategic product decisions for Careers SL.
About Careers SL
Careers SL is the leading online job platform in Sierra Leone. It offers job advertisements and other recruitment & talent-sourcing services. It was developed in 2013 and hosts over 1,000 job adverts per year.
It is part of iDT Labs, a Sierra Leonean IT business founded originally by Salton Massally.
Key Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include improving existing services and managing the process of launching new services to market, from ideation to release.
You will guide the product strategy, outline the product roadmap, and lead efforts toward achieving the product’s vision.
Working with cross-functional teams, you will be accountable for the achievement of the product’s revenue goals, delivering services, and managing client relationships.
Our ideal candidate should have a background in HR and will have a strong understanding of the recruitment process, as well as solid experience in related business development fields.
Areas of Accountability
- Achievement of Revenue Targets
- Managing product sales procedures, end to end, ensuring that agreed strategies are implemented.
- Reviewing currently offered services, proposing ideas for their development, and introducing new services based on approved strategies and market demands.
- Ensuring delivery & full execution of services within client expectations.
- Ensuring the production of daily reports on sales activities and revenue.
- Managing amendments & modifications on the www.careers.sl website, ensuring that all set objectives are achieved.
- Further developing & managing the client portfolio fostering exceptional relationships with clients.
- Collaborating and working closely with other teams, including the technical team to deliver strategic plans.
Key Competencies
This role is meant for an experienced product manager, with a background in HR & business development. Our ideal candidate should be sales-oriented and highly driven to achieve expected results. You are also expected to possess very good project management skills, be highly proficient in written & oral communication, and have the ability to develop vast networks and cultivate relationships with high-profile individuals within several industries and professional cycles.
Some of the key competencies include
- Business sense: a sound understanding of how business functions, the challenges it faces, and the solutions needed to overcome them.
- Leadership skills: able to motivate and inspire employees but also manage their teamwork by delegating tasks, while offering guidance and mentoring when needed.
- Effective communication: able to communicate with all clients and other stakeholders effectively. This includes communicating ideas, technical information and solutions to problems.
- Decision-making skills: to make important decisions regarding teams, resources, tasks and deadlines.
- Strategic thinking skills: to think strategically to focus on the bigger picture of a business or project’s goals. Your responsibilities include breaking down your product’s objectives into specific action plans and being able to anticipate what you will need to achieve these results.
- Time management skills: to have excellent time management skills. This includes being able to set up tasks, follow timelines, and meet deadlines.
Qualifications & Experience
- A University Degree in the Social Sciences, such as Business Administration, Human Resources Marketing, Sales, and other relevant fields.
- A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a management role is required.
- A background and/or demonstrable skills & knowledge in Sales, Marketing, or any business development role is a MUST.
- Knowledge & Skills in Human Resource functions, especially recruitment, will also be advantageous.
Performance Management
The Product Manager’s performance will be evaluated based on:
- Revenue generated by the product and the achievement of sales targets
- Other measurable scorecard indicators that are still being developed and will be attached to the contract, with clear incentives stated on this.
