“Field Officer – EnDev Project”

With regards to the above and in the framework of the project “Boosting Market Development for Improved and clean Cookstove” – energy and clean cooking sector – funded by EnDev, AVSI is currently seeking to recruit a:

Position: Field Officer 

Number of vacancies: 4

Scope of the position: the Field Officer will be responsible for driving implementation efforts at the grassroots level, engaging with local communities, and supporting the project’s objectives for the promotion, awareness and introduction of clean cooking solutions and improve environmental and health outcomes.

Type of employment: Full time (40 hours per week)– National contract 

Duty Station: Bo, with frequent missions to communities of implementation 

Report to: 1) Project Coordinator, 2) Head of Base

Summary of the key responsibilities:

The field agent will be responsible for awareness-raising activities to promote improved stoves, monitoring and quality control of improved stoves in production, providing technical support to sellers and producers in their search for sustainable markets, and reporting results. In particular, he/she will:

  • Conducting field assessments and market surveys to identify target areas and potential beneficiaries.
  • Support capacity-building meetings for producers and sellers on improved cookstove production and marketing techniques
  • Organize and lead promotional activities for improved stoves (community mobilization sessions, road shows, sales events, etc.);
  • Facilitating training sessions and demonstrations on the proper use and maintenance of clean cook stoves for end-users.
  • Facilitate the creation of improved stove sales outlets by producers;
  • Facilitate improved stove distribution activities in partner organizations;
  • Host programs promoting improved stoves on partner radio stations;
  • Collect monthly sales figures from producers under his supervision;
  • Collect information from beneficiaries to assess the level of satisfaction of users of improved stoves;
  • Participate in weekly activity planning meetings;
  • Provide weekly, monthly and quarterly reports on achievements and progress of field activities;
  • Perform any other tasks deemed necessary by the line supervisor.

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as environmental science, development studies, social sciences, or related disciplines.
  • Demonstrated experience in community outreach, engagement, and behaviour change communication.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders, including local communities, government officials, and partner organizations.
  • Proven the capacity to plan, implement, and monitor field activities effectively.
  • Fluency in both written and spoken English, Krio and proficiency in local languages spoken in the project area (Southern Region).
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing circumstances and willingness to travel frequently within the project area.
  • Previous experience working with NGOs, development agencies, or similar organizations in the field of sustainable development or environmental conservation is desirable.

  • Strong logical reasoning, critical thinking and problem solving;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and use of relevant software and other applications, e.g. word processing, spreadsheet, database, internet;
  • Motorcycle driver’s license.
