Democracy

  • Supervises head of production, head of training, head of news and head of finance to ensure professional output of the station.
  • Oversee programmatic and financial management of Radio Democracy’s operations in Sierra Leone
  • Develop and maintain relationships with partner organizations,

 

Guarantee. With its membership drawn mainly from civil society organizations.

We also strive to maintain a balance in our reports and broadcast; we therefore grant space for the voices of different individuals, groups and perspectives on issues we cover. Finally, in the midst of a difficult economic and financial landscape, we strive to maintain independence, high ethical standards and attain professional excellence.

Purpose:

Radio Democracy is seeking to employ a Station Manager and is hereby inviting applications from individuals with the requisite qualifications and experience to fill the position.

PERSON SPECIFICATIONS:

  1. At least a Bachelor’s degree in mass communication or related field
  2. Experience: At least 10 years experience in a broadcasting institution. Of which at least 5 must have been at a managerial level
  3. Must have a Thorough understanding of professional radio production methodology.

 

Duties:

The station Manager must have the capacity to perform the following functions:

  • Editor in chief of all media programs produced by Radio NGOs. C SOS, donors, clients, key government officials, and other national media stakeholders
  • Fundraising and building donor relations in line with Radio Democracy’s objectives
  • Managing partnerships and joint project activities with partners, that seek to achieve the goals of Radio Democracy
  • Provide management narrative and financial reports to the board and funders.
  • Represent Radio Democracy interests and objectives in Sierra Leone

 

Must also have the following abilities :

  • Ability to design and develop radio programme ideas.
  • Ability to work under pressure with minimum supervision;
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines;
  • Good Interpersonal relationships;
  • Good oral and Written communication skills.
  • Ability to lead and supervise teams.
  • Training skills in radio production
  • Ability to supervise and mentor staff, providing feedback on performance
  • High-level interpersonal skills
